Quaint cozy flat in one of Lisbon's trendiest areas, hip Bairro Alto. Oozing European charm in Lisbon's historical city center, its ceramic-tile-covered stone building is near the must-see bits of Western Europe's hottest destinations. In the winding cobblestone lanes of Bairro Alto's legendary bar & restaurant district, it's on a bar-free street and calmer. Two blocks to the Tram 28, a 5 min. walk to Príncipe Real, 10 mins. walk to Baixa-Chiado metro, Cais do Sodré and much more.
Our cozy apartment is in a building that is nearly two centuries old. It captures the essence of Lisbon and its ancient history, sitting in the center of a typical historical neighborhood. It occupies the entire 3rd floor of its building (4th floor by American standards) with a full-length balcony. This affords a view of the winding street below and a glimpse of the Tejo River flowing into the Atlantic in the distance (about a thousand meters down the hill).
The space is an old-world style open layout with two bedrooms adjacent and another bedroom opening onto the balcony. Hardwood floors cover all areas except kitchen and bathroom. There are a decent number of electric sockets available considering the age of the building.
The living area has a small dining table that seats four; next to it, a sofa and living room chairs accommodate five. This is also where the cable TV and the Wifi router is (with signal throughout the flat). Two doors open onto a classic-style long narrow balcony from where one can see part of the old city sloping down to the river/sea. With the balcony doors open, a pleasant breeze usually prevails if the kitchen and back bedroom windows are open to create a cross-draft.
The bathroom includes a bathtub as well as a shower. There are electric sockets available there, too.
The old-style modest kitchen has most small appliances including microwave, hand blender, blender, electric kettle, coffee maker, and toaster. Larger appliances include a stove, fridge (top freezer), and clothes washing machine. Plates, cups, silverware, and of course basic food preparation accessories are provided. A small fold-out table and stools afford 1-2 people a spot for a quick bite if desired. A small folding clothesline dries your clothes.
Zugang für Gäste
You will have unfettered access to the whole apartment. It occupies the entire 3rd floor (4th floor for Americans) of the building. Built a hundred years before elevators/lifts, it has only stairs.
IMPORTANT: I will certainly make every effort to accommodate any arrival, but if you arrive at the airport after 9PM, it is bit of a hardship for me to get across town to receive you as I must pay for a taxi both ways to do so. I really appreciate if you could check with me before arranging an airport arrival after 9PM as sometimes it may not be possible or additional negotiation may be required.

When you arrive you will be totally independent to explore every exciting part of Lisbon at your own pace.

The apartment’s modest air conditioner has the capacity to cool two bedrooms. With Lisbon's normally mild weather and cool evening breezes, residences typically don't have air conditioning but we do provide it in our apartment for summer afternoons which can get a little warm. The A/C unit conversely serves as a heater during Lisbon's mild winters.
The apartment has an open floor plan. That means some of the apartment bedrooms don't have doors that close. The primary bedroom's door to the living room closes and the adjacent bedroom's door to the hallway closes, creating a combined closed suite of two rooms with a queen bed and a single bed. If you wish, this suite can be closed off from the third bedroom.
