Velebit Foto Sfari
Many attractive spots in the Velebit area can only be reached by all-terrain vehicles (Velebit Jeep Safari). You will visit Tulove grede and the Zrmanja river canyon – localities where the legendary Winnetou movies were shot. You will drive historical Velebit roads and visit the Krupa monastery. We recommend that you should visit the spring of Krnjeza, the shortest river in Croatia. Its source is located at the end of a 60-m deep cavern decorated with calcite curtains and icicles at its entrance. After only 600 m, it flows into the Zrmanja River. Although short, the river is up to 45 m deep in some places, and the water is very cold and clear, perfect for drinking.
The Paklenica Riviera is located along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, at the foot of the southern Velebit, and it includes the settlements Tribanj, Starigrad-Paklenica and Seline. Starigrad-Paklenica is a small tourist town with around 1,300 inhabitants, 45 km to the west of Zadar. The Paklenica National Park is in its immediate vicinity; it is an area of protected unimpaired nature, rich in flora and fauna, as well as geomorphological shapes. The combination of the sea and the mountains is irresistible for numerous adventurers and nature lovers, and particularly for mountaineers and climbers who visit throughout the year. Starigrad-Paklenica is a junction point of the mild mediterranean climate and the sharp mountain climate, equally interesting to mountaineers and bathers. The Paklenica Riviera is rich in numerous long pebble beaches, ideal for family vacations, and the Velebit channel is a paradise for yachtsmen, surfers and divers. Apart from these two neighboring pearls of natural beauty, there are another three national parks in a diameter of a few dozen kilometers (Plitvice, Kornati and Krka) and two parks of nature (Vrana Lake and Telašcica).
TRIP TO KORNATI NATIONAL PARK
We offer our clients an opportunity to visit the most beautiful part of the Croatian Adriatic – Kornati National Park. This archipelago was declared a national park in 1980 and as such has been protected since. Kornati islands have always been the crown jewels of that part of Croatia and the world. The total area of the park is around 220 square kilometres and the archipelago comprises 140 islands, small islands, and reefs. Only one quarter of that area is land, while the rest of it is the sea ecosystem abundant in natural and cultural peculiarities. The vertical cliffs of the ‘crown’ of Kornati islands, facing the high seas, make the most popular phenomenon of the national park. These are also habitats of endangered species.
The trip to Kornati National Park on the ship. The voyage route towards the national park leaves Zadar and follows through the channel between the islands of Pašman and Ugljan, continuing through Vela Proversa. During slow navigation passengers can enjoy the virgin nature and numerous Kornati islands. On its return voyage, the ship sails through Mala Proversa and around noon arrives on the Lavdara Island, where passengers can have a break for an hour and a half out of season, or three hours in season, including swimming in the crystal-clear sea. Lunch is served on board. If the voyage takes place out of season, the ship berths in Sali for an hour and a half.
