Check-in time is flexible depending on what time the previous guests have arranged checkout and what time your flight arrives. If possible, we will arrange check-in time to coordinate with your flight arrival time. If it is not possible, we will arrange a later check-in time with you.

If we've arranged check-in time to coordinate with your scheduled flight arrival time, please be sure to arrive at The Sugar Mill Tower directly from the airport. This is necessary to schedule a welcome manager for your check-in. We will track your flight and note any delays that would affect your arrival time on site.

Housekeeping services are provided Monday, Wednesday and Friday, excepting national holidays, at no extra charge. Please contact us for further details if you feel you may need weekend or holiday housekeeping services.

Our staff is available Monday through Friday, excepting national holidays, from 8am to 4pm to assist you and answer any questions. Feel free to send us an email after hours, though we may not be able to respond before the next workday. In case of emergency we can be reached by telephone.

The Sugar Mill Tower is accessed by descending a long set of stairs to the entrance. The Tower is not suitable for wheel chairs or anyone who has difficulty with steps.

Pricing is based on occupancy of one en suite bedroom for no more than two persons.

There is a second en suite bedroom available in the tower which accommodates one or two additional people.

Depending upon the time of year, the rate for the second room varies.

If you book one en suite bedroom, the other room will not be booked to another party for the duration of your stay. This ensures your privacy and full access to the amenities of Sugar Mill Tower.

We offer long term discounts for stays of 28 days or more.

The Sugar Mill Tower is on the estate of the magnificent L'Anse aux Epines House & Gardens which is also listed on AirBnB as Waterfront Garden Villa - Grenada.

We the right to cancel any booking if, in the unlikely event, the property is damaged or rendered unusable for any reason.

You must provide your personal email address in order to receive our Welcome Book.

You also agree to provide, in a timely manner, your flight arrival and departure information, including dates, times, airlines and flight numbers. This helps us anticipate your arrival and departure times and allows us to schedule a manager to be on site for your welcome and check-in and your check-out. The property you are booking is a private home. We do not have 24x7 reception. Reception is always scheduled. If you are arriving by boat or do not intend to come directly to the property from the airport, you must phone ahead and set an appointed time. A manager will be dispatched to meet you.

Normal check-out time is 11 am. If the next booked party schedules a late arrival, we may be able to accommodate your request for a later check-out.

Normal check-in time is between 3 and 6 pm. If you have late arriving flights, we will schedule a staff member to track your flights and be on site to greet you. We can be flexibile on check-in time depending up check-out times of departing guests on your day of arrival.

There are 15+ stone steps from the carport down to the Tower entrance. Guests must be able bodied to handle the steps. The Tower is not wheel-chair accessible.

Smoking is not permitted in the house, verandas, tikis or pool areas. Do not drop cigarette butts or ashes anywhere on the property or bayside.

No more than two persons shall occupy each bedroom unless host approves in advance. Rates will be charged accordingly.

Sorry, no pets.

No parties or events can be held without prior written approval. For insurance and safety reason, we must review your plans before granting permission. Additional charges may be applicable.

Motorcycles, mopeds and scooters must be kept outside of the gate. They can be parked on the roadside across from the gate. We don't recommend booking scooters, mopeds and motorcycles for your stay in Grenada. The roads are in rough condition; there are seldom road shoulders. More often than not, drainage ditches line the roads.

The front gate must be kept closed and locked at all times. Please close it and lock it immediately after passing through.

Kayaks and paddle boards must be kept within the confines of Prickly Bay for safety reasons. Life vests must be worn, securely, at all times. If you use the kayaks or paddle boards, you must be able to swim and swim against currents. If you break or lose a paddle board, kayak, life vest or paddle, you will be charged replacement costs. Children under the age of 12 may not use the kayaks or paddle boards. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

No unreasonably loud noise or music.

Be courteous and respectful of other guests and neighbors.

No reckless or unsafe behaviour is permitted.

I would give the place 2 stars. I would like to tell you about a serious problem we had with the rental. My sons and I came back to Sugar Mill Towers after a sightseeing trip to find mosquito spray had been sprayed all over our clothes and other possessions- on the porches, our bedrooms and bathrooms. We were NOT warned of this poison being applied all over the property despite the fact we left after 9:30 that morning. Our bedrooms and bathrooms were filled with the mosquito gas. The bathroom windows had been left open and all the fumes from the back of the house where they sprayed the most was concentrated in our bedrooms. As a doctor, the problem of our belongings being sprayed with a concentrated mosquito poison was very concerning. I contacted the owner, Treva, about the problem. Her response was to be dismissive and rude. There were other problems with the property including limited hot water, limited clean towels, dysfunctional locks on outside doors, and holes in the house which allowed insects into our bedroom at night. The Kitchen was outdated, poorly equipped with a gas stove and a gas oven that required you turn the gas on wait a few minutes and drop a lighted match into a hole at the bottom of the oven - dangerous and caused slight explosion to light. I would not recommend this rental.

The worker who fogged for mosquitos arrived on short notice. We contacted him earlier, but he could not commit to a specific day or time until he notified us at mid-day on the day of the fogging. The staff attempted to alert this guest, but could not reach her at the property or by phone. We regret the incident. It was an oversight that the windows were not closed prior to the fogging. The housekeeping staff laundered the guest's clothing and replaced the linens. Apologies were made. Without being asked, we refunded one night of the guest's stay for her inconvenience. None of us were dismissive or rude. Because of this incident, we now have a checklist in place to ensure foggings are not made on short notice and all windows are closed and checked. We've never received a bad review of the Sugar Mill Tower nor any complaint about any of the other charges made by this guest. The posted photos of the kitchen are clear. We do not represent the kitchen as anything other than what it is. Gas stoves which require lighting are not uncommon. No one has reported struggling with it nor complained about it in the past. The large hot water tanks are heated by the sun. If a guest uses an abundance of hot water or there is a stretch of cloudy days, it takes awhile for the water to reheat. Extra towels were provided and we are always glad to supply more upon request. We found no problem with the locks but are replacing them with new locks. We followed through on each of this guest's posted concerns. Had we been told at the time, we would have addressed each item immediately. We take any and all suggestions and complaints seriously. On rare occasions, it becomes apparent a particular property is not a good match for a particular guest. All things considered, we wish this guest well. We do appreciate all feedback and the opportunity to make improvements.

The urge to travel struck at a young age. Because our father was a US military officer, we moved from place to place; adapting to new communities, schools and people was part of our normal existence.

My hometown is in Maryland, near Washington, DC. I've lived in Alaska, California, Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Indiana, Arkansas and Kentucky. I've driven cross-country several times and plan to do it again.

15 years ago, I left a career in publishing, rented out my house and went traveling and sailing. I landed in Guatemala for a year and lived in Grenada for three years. Several ocean-crossings and excursions throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and Caribbean led to new friendships, which led to Grenada, which led to hosting and property management.
