Pros: The apartment is very typical of Malta and Valletta in a residential building with an interior courtyard and a flat roof on which you can sit and sip a glass of wine. It is located very close to the bus terminal in Valletta making it super convenient for visiting not just Valletta but any other place in Malta. It is spacious, clean, and excellent value for the money. The neighborhood in which it is located called Floriana is quiet but has all necessary facilities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes. The hosts were responsive and gave us all the help we needed.
Cons: There is NO air conditioning just fans, which are strong but very noisy. I traveled with my mother who is very sensitive to noise, and she had a great deal of trouble sleeping. The heat was UTTER MURDER even in September. Even when it had cooled off outside at night, the apartment was an oven as it's on the last floor. We got on the roof one evening and seriously considered sleeping there except we couldn't figure out what to use as mattresses. The hosts are Maltese and hence used to the heat and to having just fans. The rest of us visiting aren't Maltese. An air conditioning unit costs about 200 euros. With 1-2 of those, that apartment would be absolutely lovely. The hosts should seriously consider raising the price by 5-10 euros per night in order to install air conditioning and absorb the increase in their electricity bill. And until they do, I can only recommend this apartment from October until May. If you are at all heat or noise sensitive, DON'T CONSIDER booking it June-September.
