I have never met my host (Alejandra). She replied to my messages on Airbnb only once, after which I received replies from her husband. Her husband was late to check with me on my arrival time and coordinating with me on my check-in. They never arranged to meet me, although they lived in the same apartment building and I was there for 9 days. The only interactions I had were with the maintenance lady who works for the building on my check-in (who doesn't speak english) and a cleaning lady who works for my hosts on my check-out (who doesn't speak english either). No one gave me any proper instructions during my check-in. In fact, when I arrived, I was given the wrong set of keys to apartment by the maintenance lady, which led me to think that there was something wrong with the locks and I had to wait inside the apartment for couple of hours then the maintenance lady gave me the right set of keys.
The room (studio apartment) advertised is within the garage of an apartment building. You can get in by going through the garage, which doesn't feel very safe (this is my opinion- my host's husband assured me that "no one would try to get into my room"). Since cars were coming in and out, it was noisy in the room in the mornings and evenings. Also, the refrigerator in the room made a lot of noise. Also, the tv did not show any channels, I think the subscriptions had expired.
When I arrived at the room, I realized that one of the two desk lamps in the room didn't have a bulb. I informed my host's husband of this situation, he said he was going to bring a bulb, but he never did. The next day in the morning, I realized that there was no hairdryer either, which was said to be provided on the airbnb ad. When I informed by host's husband, he said they will bring one down in 10 minutes, but I waited for 20 minutes, they did not show up and I had to leave. Then he said he would leave the hairdryer with the maintenance lady, but when I arrived back from work in the evening, the maintenance lady still hadn't received the hairdryer. I had to send more messages to get him to drop off the hairdryer near my door.
Overall, what bothered me the most was the irresponsibility and the utter carelessness of my hosts.
