The apartment was very nice and cozy, just as described. The location is superb, in the European district and right next to the "Parc du Cinquentenaire" and metro. Sophie was very helpful, and explained all the necessary details at check-in. She swapped the keys at the beginning by mistake and left us with a key that could not lock the apartment, but she was very kind and came back to solve the problem right away (it was late and she leaves relatively far). This was a very nice experience and I would definitely recommend staying there.
Staying at the apartment of Sophie and Gary was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had on airbnb. I had issues on non-responsiveness, unpunctuality, indifference, uncleanliness, noncompliance with the advertised photos and even an aggressive behaviour of the host. I contacted the host before booking the apartment and agreed on the specific check-in time. However, just before my departure the host postponed the time of arrival without any further explanations. Sophie did not even allow me to leave my bags at the apartment at the previously agreed time. The host afterwards showed some remorse, but she had not even tried to resolve the issue by contacting me via Airbnb messages or my mobile number indicated on my Airbnb account. Upon my arrival, there were other unpleasant surprises: the sewer pipe in the shower was clogged and the water went out extremely slowly, the smell of the damp basement constantly came into the apartment through the second door in the toilet that could not be closed. I immediately contacted the host, but Sophie did absolutely nothing to fix the problems during 3 days, did not even enquire whether everything was ok or not and did not answer my messages. On the 3rd day of my stay in the apartment, the sewer was completely clogged and water did not go out at all. Additionally there were other issues concerning the cleanness of the apartment (dirty toilet, shower and curtains), coldness at the first day (the premises had not been heated for 4 days before my arrival), internet connection (there was no wifi router in the apartment, the signal was very low and constantly disappeared), the carpet/mats and the painting indicated on the photos were missing etc. I did not want to complain to Airbnb about all these issues, but the completely clogged sewer and the indifference of the host was the ‘last drop which overflowed the cup’. After the intervention of Airbnb Customer Services, Gery, the husband of the host, contacted me immediately, but instead of offering an apology and fixing the above problems, he became aggressive. Fortunately, the Airbnb Customer Service works very efficiently in such cases and does not tolerate the non-performance of the hosts like Sophie and Gery.
Thank you for hosting us, the studio was very comfortable and we loved the back yard. The location was fantastic, the subway just a block away and lots of great restaurants all around. The host was very helpful, and went out of her way for us. We would recommend this suite to other guests.
