Melissa is a great host, very responsive and helpful. The location is close to a bunch of great restaurants and public transit. While the decor and appliances are a little old, everything works and is of good value.

This is the worst dump we have ever stayed in. Toilet chain was broken, so we had to stick our hand in the tank to flush. No A/C. Building is run down and depressing. People were fighting in alley behind the building. Unit was unlocked when we arrived, never saw the host. With the service fee, cleaning fee and tax, resulted more expensive than nearby 3-star hotels. Difficult communicating with host, which is not surprising, given that she has 54 properties! Parking (on streets or parking lots) expensive. In summary, stay away from this dump!

Antwort von Melissa:
If the guest has read the description, he would not make such complaint. All of this guest complained like No AC, the door inside the building on check in was not locked are all listed in the description and house manual. 95% of Seattle Apts have no AC because most summer days are in 70s degree due to the breeze from Lake Union and Washington Lake, only a couple of weeks are hot but we provided fans in the apt. We said clearly how to get in the building entry door by use the intercom or key in the lock box, then the unit itself is unlocked for easy check in. I also said I cannot meet everyone during busy summer season. If you need to meet, just give me a call. The chain in the toilet tank is extremely easy to connect, or just let us know to fix it for you. but the guest never text us for this matter. The alley is most time quiet, but you cannot control what people pass the alley. It is U District with all kinds of people. All hotels near by starts from $285 per night, ours are less than half of the price but larger with clean linens and large kitchen and living room and in great location with 98 walk score. The cleaning crew are cleaning the building every day, it maybe old, but very clean and quiet. The guest compared a lot then chose our place.

This was a nice place to stay. Its in a busy area with a bit of noise outside at times, but nothing too bad. For the price, its a great little place.

It is a safe and convenient place to stay, very close to the northwest part of UW, there are a lot of buses which can take you to downtown. One thing I feel very good it that Hotel Deca is just across the street so that it is easier to get some travel information and book a tour or shuttle. But the windows are just facing a garbage plot which it not very good and a little noisy in the morning. But no big deal.

I didn't meet Melissa until a couple days after checking in, but she had provided the necessary information to get in (I arrived very late at night). It's quite simple to get into the room. She was available via email and answered my questions well. The room is older, as is the entire building, but still clean and comfortable. You can't beat the location, right off the Ave and all the foodie places there. Safeway is only about 100 meters away, for groceries, etc. Take advantage of the parking spot off the alley behind the building, if it's available. Much cheaper than the public parking.
