Great location! This 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo is on the mountain within Wintergreen Resort overlooking Devil’s Knob golf course 18th fairway. A 3 minute walk from the Wintergreen Spa and a 2 minute walk to the end of the parking lot to the shuttle to skiing and the resort main attractions that runs by every 20 minutes (at entrance to Stone Ridge neighborhood). We are immediately adjacent to the Wintergreen Nature Foundation.

We looked at over two dozen units and chose this one because it has such a wonderful feel. A guest from last summer summed it up the best: “It felt as though a friend had loaned us their place rather than a rental.”

Inviting - feels like a home away from home! Fully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen including grocery staples (we provide coffee and pantry staples for your enjoyment) to make your stay convenient and comfortable: full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, blender, toaster, teapot, waffle maker, griddle, dishwasher, coffee maker, and plenty of pots/pans/utensils. The bathrooms are well stocked with shower supplies, hair dryers, Kleenex etc. Sizeable dining room and barstools to granite countertop. The family room has oversized L-shape comfortable couches and a number of games spanning age groups. 100 DVDs - movies for kids, adults - a combo of classics and new movies. Netflix as well! Full size washer and dryer with detergent. Linens/towels and bath amenities provided. Includes wifi, TVs in every bedroom and living room, stereo, and cable. Get cozy in front of the gas fire place. Views - picturesque views from this mountain-top top floor unit through the expansive windows. Feels very private. Look out onto the golf course and over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Both the living and dining rooms exit on to the patio with electric Traeger grill with wood pellets (gas grills prohibited at Wintergreen).

Inviting bedrooms - the master bedroom has a queen bed, attached full bath, and a safe. The second bedroom has two twin beds also with an attached full bath. The upstairs loft is a great area that sleeps 4 comfortably with two queen beds and an attached full bath - note that the bathroom ceiling is at an angle so the 3rd bathroom would not be as comfortable for adults. I'm 5'9 and showered there but prefer to use one of the downstairs bathrooms. Unlike many 3 bedroom condos, this top floor bedroom is walled off from the great room below with windows allowing in the natural light but keeping out the noise from the kitchen and family room. All rooms have wood hangars, luggage unpacking racks, a variety of extra pillows and bedding, fans, individual baseboard heaters and individual thermostats.

Relaxing – but if you need, in addition to wifi, we also have a study nook with a desk should you need to work or want a larger than cellphone or laptop screen.

So much to do - at 3,500 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains, adjacent to the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway, Wintergreen is a beautiful four-season resort. Wintergreen offers something for the entire family: skiing, snowboarding, tubing (winter and summer), hiking, swimming/kayaking/fishing at Lake Monacan, horseback riding, golf and tennis, cultural events, wineries and microbreweries, spa treatments, historic sites, and plenty of relaxation on top of a beautiful mountain.
The ski lodge, ski lifts, Copper Mine Restaurant and The Edge Pub are just minutes away. Walk to the Nature Center, and fenced dog park.

Kid friendly! The Adventure Dome accommodates kids year round. Complimentary movies and popcorn under the stars on weekends. Complimentary corn hole.

Access to 2 pools (on Timber Crest and in Stoney Creek) and Lake Monocan Park Sunday - Friday.

We leave an informative guest book with instructions on the fireplace, thermostat, water heater and other home tips. We also have a visitor’s book listing fun things to do, restaurant and winery/brewery recommendations. We can send these to you electronically prior to your visit as well.

Check-in is normally at 4:00 pm and check-out is normally by 11:00 am. Please contact us if you need to request alternate arrangements. We are flexible and will do our best to accommodate depending on other bookings.

This building, like most in Wintergreen on the mountain, has a lot of steps. We are a long stairway from the parking lot - 33 steps. The benefit of being on the top floor is the view but that also means taking stairs to the top floor.

The Wintergarden Spa services are available for anyone to purchase but the Spa amenities (pool and fitness room) require a separate membership (we are not members). We choose to instead ski and access the hundreds of acres of hiking and other outdoor amenities – isn’t that why we are all going to Wintergreen?!?!

Dogs - we will consider well behaved dogs with a $40: stay pet fee per pet. We love dogs too. Please let us know a bit more about your pet if you would like to book and we will have to send a "special offer" separate link to include the pet fee. Out apologies but we can't accommodate cats due to allergies.

Carpet - our carpet (including in the dining room and living room) is off white. While we always vacuum it and have whole carpet cleaning every two months, we are a family friendly condo and the carpet coloring is showing some spills. We will continue to spot clean, and whole carpet clean every two months, but there is dining and living room carpet staining. We have lowered our rates relative to other comparable units. We plan to replace the carpets with wood floors after the ski season but want to ensure y'all have a heads up.

We don't use a Short Term Rental Agreement but ask that you (1) send list of your guest names and ages and (2) confirm you can comply with the following departure instructions (a copy of which will also be in the condo):

Departure Instructions

We are delighted to share our home with you and hope you enjoyed your stay at Wintergreen. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain our property for future use. We ask that you complete the following before your departure:

1. Remove ALL trash from the unit and discard in dumpsters located in Condo parking lot. Please be sure to secure the bin upon disposal to keep the bears out!
2.Pile used bath towels on the floor in the bathroom.
3.Strip used sheets off of the beds and leave on top of the beds. No need to strip beds in bedrooms not used during the stay.
4.Clean dirty dishes/pans and return to the appropriate cupboards. No dirty dishes should be left in the sink.
5.Feel free to use the dishwasher but ensure you empty the dishwasher upon completion of the wash cycle (enabling you to turn water off when you leave).
6.Remove and discard all food items you brought including refrigerator items.
7.Close and lock all windows and doors.
8.Keys returned to lock box; additional keys left in wooden bowl on kitchen counter.
9.Turn thermostat to: 78 degrees (spring/summer months); and 55 degrees (fall/winter months).
10.Turn off water valve (see detailed instructions in manual) to avoid a water issue (last year some condos in the building had water issues flooding other units)

Our group of 6 visited Jennifer's place for a girls weekend of winery tours and catching up. It's the perfect location for exploring the area and visiting all of the wineries. Lots of space, and our group of 6 never felt crowded! The condo is fully stocked with dishes and kitchen essentials, just missing a sponge. I would definitely book here again!

Lots of steps to go in and out of the unit, due to it's location on the mountain. At least 30 steps down to get to the building, and then the unit is on the second floor. Ice maker was not on, and the airconditioning was not on when we arrived; it didn't cool down until 2:00 AM. She allows pets, which probably accounts for the stains on the rugs, but appliances, (blender, outdoor grill) were filthy and unusable. We don't recommend this unit. Owner unresponsive to emails we sent to inquire about a refund, as we had to leave 1 day early.

Bummer! While we already reached out directly to Ellen and provided a $50 rebate, providing some info here. The day after her departure Ellen reported a great stay but asked for a retroactive refund because "something came up at home" - she wanted a full refund (after the fact) telling us she left a day early. Our response to Ellen is posted below, but we couldn't accommodate the after the fact request (and acted consistent with our posted policy) so her stay turned from "great" to generating a bad review. Steps - there are 33 steps and the unit is a top floor unit. Our long-standing description is "This building, like most in Wintergreen on the mountain, has a lot of steps. We are a long stairway from the parking lot. The benefit of being on the top floor is the view but that also means taking stairs to the top floor." Ellen reported our description was inaccurate because of this. I've changed the description from "a lot of steps" and "long stairway" to "33 steps." Ice maker - all units in Wintergreen are required to turn off the water when the unit is unoccupied. If a prior guest empties the fridge ice maker (as many do for their cooler home) then we still have 2 backup ice trays in the freezer, but the water does need to be turned on in accordance with our instructions when the new guest arrives to get the ice flowing. Air conditioning - like all units on the mountain, we turn the A/C to 80 when unoccupied. It is on, but just warm. Our property manager confirmed it was 80 when cleaning and when guests arrive. Our A/C unit was serviced in July and worked great when we were there 2 weeks ago (and our property manager reported it is working great today). Renters can turn the A/C to their desired temperature upon arrival and it does cool to the set temperature. Rugs - we wash each bathroom rug and kitchen rug between each stay. Unfortunately, the main carpet in the condo is off white so does stain easily. We have it cleaned every two months and it is being done this week. As a family friendly condo, it is actually the kiddos (like ours) who spill (not dog issues) and we do our best to spot clean between whole carpet cleanings. Nonetheless, we are planning to put in wood floors after ski season this spring. In the meantime (since June) we have lowered our rates compared to comparable sized units as we know the off white carpet isn't ideal. Clean - Our cleaning crew has always been great as reported by all other guests on this and the other rental site (and they clean when we come and we experience the same). However, we were not cleaning the outdoor grill. This was an oversight and has been corrected. I refunded Ellen $50 for the inconvenience of the dirty grill the last renter left. Responsiveness - our average response time is less than an hour. I spoke with Ellen on the phone and texted with her as did my property manager. The last e-mail from Ellen (through Airbnb or otherwise) was July 23rd. In response to my property manager's checking in by text after Ellen's departure, Ellen texted asking about the retroactive refund for leaving a day early. Our response text to her is pasted below in my Airbnb e-mail response to her: Ellen, I just saw your review and was concerned I might have missed an e-mail from you. I did not. The last e-mail I received on July 23rd shows in the Airbnb history below. I'm surprised and disappointed to have received a negative review, in part, based on lack of communications when all of our responses to you were within the hour. I am sorry the grill was dirty - I confirmed with our property manager that we had not checked the grill so I am refunding you $50 for the inconvenience. I know that you asked Kim by text for a refund after you already departed. We responded with the following: 'Ellen, i'm sorry you had to leave early from the condo for personal reasons. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time there. Unfortunately, we cannot refund for notifications after the fact of changes in the reservation. We typically have the cleaning people come up on Sunday or Monday but had to make a special trip on Tuesday because of the longer duration. Additionally we had another family coming in today that could have come in a day earlier had the date not been blocked by you. I'm sorry but this is the policy of all other vacation rental owners as well.' I'd be happy to speak with you about this further. I'm at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) if you would like to discuss. I hope in the future (especially after we've talked on the phone and you talked with my property manager so know how to get a hold of us), you will let property managers or owners know if there is an issue, especially if it can be corrected, so that we can correct it on the spot. Again, this is a $50 credit for the condition of the grill - my apologies the grill wasn't cleaned."

Jennifer's place is very well located on the mountain and just beautiful. The living room area was perfect for our group, but the outdoor balcony was our favorite. Perfect unobstructed views of the night sky. So relaxing ! It's a perfect place for a weekend getaway, no matter what the season!

This house was incredibly well stocked with all the cooking supplies and utensils you could ever need. We loved the excess of blankets and pillows and really utilized the many board games that were available! Unfortunately, we had a few hiccups with the unit. The AC unit would cause a significant leak from the kitchen ceiling when it was on. Jennifer had a maintenance man come out the next day, and she partially reimbursed us for that day. Although there were 3 bathrooms, they were very small and it was difficult to accommodate our party of 8 as we were trying to get ready for events. We decided to cancel to get a larger space for us for the weekend (we stayed 6 days), and she was kind enough to give us a partial reimbursement for those days.

Your stay was the first this season with the A/C on and while we had it fully inspected in the fall when we purchased it (and by Wintergreen Resort 3 weeks ago when we had a new thermostat installed), we are glad you let us know that there was a problem and immediately sent maintenance over and provided a 100% full refund for that day. We were also happy to accommodate your group by providing a partial refund for the last minute cancellation of the weekend days to accommodate the post-graduation larger group gathering requiring a stay at one of our property manager's other larger non-condo homes for the weekend. I'm glad you found that space as our condo can really only comfortably accommodate 8.

The unit was well appointed and well stocked for whatever type of stay you intended. Whatever problem you might encounter is quickly addressed by Jennifer's agent. The mountain top may be cool, but you will not lack for warmth due to the heating system and all the blankets and comforters available. If you are elderly ask for a description of the access to the unit.

Air Force employee and outdoor enthusiast with 2 elementary age kids and husband. My first time in Wintergreen was summer 2016 when I ran a Spartan there and immediately fell in love. I'm from Seattle and my husband is from Colorado and the place reminded us of both! Decided to buy a well established, beautifully decorated unit that we could use some, rent out some.
