This private message that I wrote the host sums it up very well. We would all recommend this place to anyone. The price seems steep it is worth it for convenience and local knowledge. "Patrick, Thank you very much for making our arrival to help you feel so warm and welcome! Your tips and recommendations were spot on and saved us from learning a lot of lessons the hard way. The transfer from the bus and train station was critical with having lots of luggage and dealing with winter weather. The design of the cottage is amazing and we really enjoyed staying there. We look forward to recommending it to many of our friends traveling to have to Hakuba. Your hospitality is unrivaled to any Airbnb hosts that we have had EVER! Cheers!" Additional notes: Getting around Hakuba is really difficult in the wintertime I would recommend getting your international drivers permit and renting a car to come here. Allows you a lot more freedom in the lot less walking in rain and snow. There are buses the pick up nearby to go to the resorts but they only come to her three times during the morning. Lodging near Echoland street very convenient and central if you plan on skiing at Happo. There are lots of bars and restaurants within a very short distance. We recommend making reservations for dinner during the day or even the night before as the restaurants are small and the town can be full of tourists sometimes.

Everything was great! Rice cooker, toaster, coffee maker, washer-dryer.. all things for us to stay 2 days were there! One thing, we were happy if there was a humidifier.

Patrick is a great host. He offer d pick up and drop off to the trains and shopping trips to the big supermarket for food although there's some really good dining options in Echoland and Patrick gave us some excellent recommendations. He was friendly and the cottage was perfect for 6 adults (3 couples). It was warm and pleasant and obviously still very new with good appliances. Bath is a good size to soak in after a day of skiing. Beds are firm but not too hard and there's plenty of cutlery and crockery in the kitchen. We will definitely be back and will stay here again. Thanks heaps Patrick.

My name is Patrick, I was born in Switzerland in 1969 and have spent most of my life there. I had my first heli-skiing experience in Canada back in 1999 and I instantly fell in love with the deep untracked powder. The following years I dedicated to changing my lifestyle to allow me to spend 3 months a year in Canada and the US on a snow safari. This meant a lot of hard work; putting in lots of extra hours during 9 months of the year that I spent at home. In those three months I would follow all the big storms around so that I could experience the best powder throughout my trip, but I had to do a lot of driving! Then in 2006, some Australian friends convinced me to come to Japan and experience JaPow for the first time. From the moment I arrived I knew this place was special and it was love at first sight. A love that grew stronger and stronger over the following nine seasons; enjoying JaPow day by day all season long. I put in a lot of hard work as a telecom engineer back home in Switzerland to build a potential future here, in Japan. In 2016 I was finally able to take the next big step and buy land to build my own cottages. Constructions started soon after and will be completed in December 2016.

If you are considering Japan as your next holiday destination, don’t hesitate! You won’t be disappointed. There is so much to explore, to see, to do… There are skiing opportunities for all levels at most resorts. From nicely groomed beginner areas, moderate to steep groomed and un-groomed runs within the resort and the un-groomed and untracked powder in the trees of Cortina, Tsugaike and other resorts as well as the Alpine backcountry skiing. No matter what kind of skiing you are looking for, you will find it in Hakuba.

Should the weather ever not allow for any good skiing there are plenty of other things to do: The snow monkeys, beautiful temples and more.

Hakuba also offers a great range of dining experiences. Whether you prefer small, affordable, traditional family owned restaurants or if your budget allows for more luxurious dining, there are many places where you can enjoy all kinds of specialties from Japan. Don’t miss out on trying the Kobe beef!

So why should you choose Kitsune Cottages? I guarantee you will have a great time in Hakuba. I offer a complimentary pick up and drop of service from the train station or bus terminal. I will welcome you to your accommodation, explaining everything and of course will answer any questions you might have. If you are overwhelmed by the extensive dining options, don’t stress! I will provide you with my ‘Top 10 recommendations’ of the best places to go in Hakuba for sushi, Korean BBQ, traditional Japanese family owned restaurants, Izakayas and many more, including phone numbers to make your reservation. You can also feel free to browse the Hakuba Dining Guide and other information you will find at the cottage.

These brand new cottages were designed by local Japanese architect, Hiro Kowal. Every detail was carefully planned by us to ensure that you, our guest, would feel comfortable and relaxed during your stay. The deliberate insulation ensures that the house will always be well heated, positioned in a nice, quiet location, within easy walking distance to many good restaurants and only 200m to the closest bus stop for the complimentary bus service that will take you to all the ski resorts.

Built in 2016 this brand new unit will make you feel at home right from the start. The cottages are just under 100 square meters of functional space and follow all Japanese rental and hotel laws, including fire detection system and all permits.
