This place saved me from potential Christmas dinner disaster from lack of bringing kitchen tools--the kitchen is SO well stocked! There are 2 convection ovens, a 4 burner electric stove top, a 6 burner gas stove top, tons of dishes/silverware/bakeware, a mini food processor, a hand mixer, a cast iron skillet, spices, a coffeemaker, a dishwasher...pretty much everything you need to cook a feast! The only things I needed that I couldn't find were a carving fork/knife (perhaps I overlooked it) and a grater that wasn't discolored (perhaps it could still have been used). We smoked a 9 bird turduckenstein on the grill + smoker (which has a temperature gauge) for 5 hours and then finished it in the large convection oven. There were enough stove tops and oven space to make most of the sides simultaneously. Amazed!
When we arrived, the address led us to the property across the actual Airbnb unit. We sent someone up to the house and it turned out to be the owner's house who were welcoming and directed us the right way. The Airbnb unit is a light blue house; you can drive up to the fence and walk 10 feet to the door. If you get to a place where you need to open a big gate and go up a big hill to get to the house which may have a truck parked in front, that's the owner's house so just go across the street to find the actual unit.
When we got in, the fireplace was already warm. There was plenty of firewood (but couldn't find an axe to cut big pieces smaller). The outdoor fire pit was great. The scenery was amazing. There were horses across the street that we fed some carrots to. It was stocked with more toiletries and towels than I would have expected. Close to Pinnacles if you want to hike or rock climb. We were all inspired to have a property like this one someday!
The people who manage the unit are not the owners, but you will find the phone number of Tim the manager near the wifi router (try them all, the 408 worked when the 831 didn't). No cell reception so if you want to make a phone call, use the landline or an internet based calling service.
Closest gas I found was about 20 miles away. Some things that I think could be potential negatives for some: 1) at one point there was a cow on a nearby hill that kept mooing, 2) the freezer was pretty full so there wasn't much space if you bring a lot of your own freezer food (we managed to fit all of our freezer goods in with the space available), 3) the space heater in the master didn't seem able to make the room super toasty, 4) most outlets in the bedrooms are 2 prong and don't accommodate 3 prong plugs. Otherwise, this place is perfect! We all wished we could have stayed longer.
