In the heart of the city just off the Royal Mile you are a stone's throw from all major attractions. 5 min walking distance from Waverly Station, the University, Princess Gardens, Grassmarket, museums you've got it all right at your fingertips! The flat is secured entry and due to its central location it can be noisy; especially on weekends! Just escape around the corner to Arthur's seat or grab a pint at The Royal Oak (one ofEdi's oldest Scottish pubs) and you'll be refreshed in no time at all.

I will start by clarifying this is not a bad review by any means. The price for the area was completely reasonable. The location is spectacular. You are walking distance to everything. The host was not who was actually staying in the space, it was his cousin and she was absolutel…

Antwort von ChrisorNathan:
Old Town Edinburgh (where you stayed) is a Unesco world heritage site and its buildings date back to Medieval times (1200's) with the exception of much new development. The new development buildings are likely to have the type of plumbing that you desire and more efficient heating systems (like the newly built hotel across the road) and you could stay there for 245 pounds per night per couple in the future if you wish everything to work more like it does in the modern metropolis' of sunny California. What you got instead is an authentic (though somewhat posher), historic experience of what it is like to REALLY live in a medieval city like the Old Town for only 65 per night for FOUR people! We would LOVE to have a renovated bathroom (our planning permission has been waiting for a long time already) but priority is being given to the big business of new developers which are restricting our requests and which are also pushing the local people out (see Guardian article titled "Edinburgh's Age of Endarkment." We have, like our bio clearly states, also gone back into studies ourselves thus live on a modest budget while all that around us goes up and up in price. If you felt it was perfectly reasonable for its price, why then, did you complain? Edinburgh City Center is unique in Europe in that it is (maybe not for long) still inhabited by the true locals of Scotland. It is the oldest human establishment in the country and though my loo frustrates even me, I take pride in that I am holding out even with all the new construction and soul-less hotels going up around us. We would love yourselves or any of our guests to start a campaign (maybe kickstarter or the like) to fund a bathroom renovation. Maybe with the extra money and attention our permit would get through finally and maybe we would also be able to get a plumber that was skilled enough to make the plumbing more efficient in a building this old. We signed up for airbnb because it was a kind of community and we wanted to share our 'HOME' as well as the authentic experience of it; both good and bad. If people want to contribute to make it a wee bit better with an improved bathroom, that would be lovely. We would repay in kind with free hospitality and such. Otherwise, realize that having a safe, authentic experience of Unesco proportions with a jolly local host for less than 100 per night is a gift of rather big significance.

I stayed here with a friend for Hogmanay and was impressed with the place - it's in really great location and very central. Unfortunately Nathan wasn't there but his cousin was incredibly hospitable and kind enough to let us in at 6am when our flight got cancelled and we had to g…

Bel appartement idéalement situé en plein centre d'Edimbourg. Très bon accueil. Petit bémol concernant les fenêtres et la salle de bains qui pourraient être rénovés. Mais une bonne adresse à conseiller.

Lovely to have all of you and appreciate your understanding of historic British buildings! We don't have the money of a major hotel to push through the tedious paperwork for renovations as on historic buildings it takes ages to get.
