Daysi's place was great. It's in a fantastic location and was very clean and comfortable. The room gives plenty of privacy by being on the opposite side of the house from the family's bedrooms. The air conditioning works well, and the private bathroom had reliable hot water. One major plus is the wifi access from the park across the street. My laptop could access the public wifi signal from inside the house, which is unheard of in Havana. It's one of the reasons I picked this house, and I was not disappointed. To pick up wifi from my iPhone, I did usually have to walk across the street, just so others know what to expect. Breakfast was as good or better than what I've had at other casas particulares where this was included.
With the disclaimer that I gave 5 stars in all categories, there are some things guests should know when choosing this place, most of which other commenters have already touched on. One is that it is a 3-generation family house. The bedroom feels very private and I could rarely hear family members when I was there. But when in the living areas, it feels like being in "their space" - though a welcome and comfortable guest. Another thing is that Daysi does not allow guests to bring any other visitors into the house. For me, this was not an issue. However, I can imagine that some people would want to be able to invite a friend or new acquaintance to come over. This is strictly against house rules, and I do wish I had understood that before coming (though I still would have chosen the house anyway). The reason is for the safety and security of guests and family. The house is on a busy street (Línea), and there are always numbers of people accessing the wifi in the park directly across the street. So it is logical for Daysi to take extra precautions about safety. All the same, the no-visitors rule should be made clear. Lastly, and related to this, there is definitely some street noise that reaches the room. It's relatively quiet from 11 or 12 until 7 or 8, but if you are looking for a bedroom that will stay quiet well into the morning, then this is not the place for you. Again, Daysi's house worked perfectly for what I needed in Havana. But it might not be a great fit for everyone, depending on your criteria.
