Let's just say that there's a reason why this place is so cheap. This is no room, this is essentially a mattress lying on the floor of a closet in a crack house. It absolutely could not be any sketchier. On top of that, it was extremely difficult to find. The address the host gave was wrong. The location that shows up on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps is also wrong. (This isn't a matter of not being able to read Japanese, either. Any way you look at them, the directions are woefully inadequate.) Only after I called the host was I able to find the place. And I'll give him credit - I called very late at night but he answered and was quite patient with my imperfect Japanese. I do genuinely appreciate that. But my goodwill was extinguished when he later ignored my request to alter my reservation. The idea of spending only ¥1500 a night to stay in Tokyo is tempting, but I'll take this experience as a reminder that "you get what you pay for." At that price, I would seriously recommend staying the night in an Internet cafe instead.
