Quaint, traditional 3 bedroom cottage with loads of character, right in the heart of beautiful Beaufort. Lovingly restored and decorated by its owner, the house has many period features, antique pieces, original artworks and quality furnishings set in a spacious cottage garden. Only 2 hours from Melbourne and 2 blocks from the centre of town, The Stationmasters House is a perfect romantic weekend getaway or handy stop over to Halls Gap or the Grampians. There is plenty to do in the town of Beaufort, national park walks, wine tasting at local winery, antique shops and award winning local cafes.
The Stationmasters House offers 3 bedrooms, one with a king size bed, one with a double bed and the third with 2 single beds. A trundle bed is also available if required for extra guests. The newly installed bathroom with free standing bath is a stand out equipped with most amenities.
The light filled sitting room comfortably sits 7 people and has a free standing wood fire and reverse cycle air conditioning to keep it warm and cosy (or cool). A separate dining room with French doors that open out to the rear deck is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of local wine and entertain.
Adjoining the dining area is a fully equipped kitchen that boasts a Belling stove/oven, cooking condiments and basic pantry requirements including breakfast spreads etc.
A second bathroom, toilet and washing machine are also part of The Stationmasters House.
The Stationmasters is set in a large cottage garden with rear access to the double lock up garage with remote roller door. There are plenty of little nooks to sit and enjoy the roses, read a book and enjoy yet another glass of that local wine or coffee.
Centrally located, the supermarket is 2 blocks away (50m), hospital/doctors surgery 30m, cafes, antique shops, bakery, tourist information all in the Main Street (Neill Street) 3 blocks/ 3-5 minute walk. If you want to increase your energy levels, visit the nearby Mt. Cole State Park and take on the Beeripmo walk with its breathtaking views of the Pyrenees and beyond or stroll to a waterfall with a picnic lunch, so beautiful. Beaufort is situated at the base of the Pryrenees wine region with 44 cellar door vineyards to visit, but Michael Unwin Wines is right in town and offers a wide range of wines for tasting in its cellar door, notably the Tattooed Lady Shiraz.
There is plenty to do, taste and see, Halls Gap and the Grampians National Park is about an hour away and Beaufort is also a convenient stop over on the way through to Melbourne/Adelaide with the house just 50m off the Western Highway. It also worth noting that the train from Southern Cross station in Melbourne comes right through to Beaufort via Ballarat.
Whatever the reason, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay in this delightful little house and the Pryrenees region.
