A private retreat that's YOURS. GLAMP, bring your gear to the Kailua cabin; surrounded by 'Ōhi'a Lehua trees. Kau Kau place, a community kitchen which has electricity, a gas grill, coffee maker, dishes; library, wireless internet everywhere. The VERY cool surfboard shower! Situated in peaceful Ohia estates right next to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. You can ride a bike there to tons of hiking. Close by -black and green sand beaches, tide ponds, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, THE BIG SKY and much more!

Der Wohnraum

Farley Ohana Volcano Retreat is situated in Ohia Estates, right off Route 11/ Mamalahoa Highway and is only 3 miles from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Our Retreat is part of an ancient rain forest which we are in the process of bringing back to health. “Malama aina" means to care for and nurture the land so it can give back all we need to sustain life for this and future generations - this is the basis of our philosophy. One unique part of this region is the Ohia lehua trees (Metrosideros polymorpha), especially the big old gnarled trees that have withstood the test of time. Ohia are slow-growing trees. It takes 400-500 years for them to reach 6 feet in diameter. Trees of this age have lived through huricanes, earthquakes, and other natural calamities. Their burls, twists, and scars stand testiment to the fact that they are survivors. Also look for ancient, native Hawaiian Hapu'u fern trees, which grow 15 - 20 feet high. Orchids grow in abundance here as well, along with Koa trees and sandalwood.

Zugang für Gäste

The retreat is gated and the entire Retreat is PRIVATE and yours to explore. Hang out on the hammock. Read something from our library, or make something hot to drink or eat xox or just star out the window in Kau Kau place.
Open up to this amazing forest a let yourself GO!
We encourage it :=)

The Farley Ohana is a home away from home, the closeness to nature, the peacefulness and the quietitude penetrates even if you are there for a short time... I was there only two days but felt rejuvenated by staying here. Although I was upgraded to the swish Aloha cabin, the Kailua is exactly as it says on the box (sleeping gear req'd); it's surrounded by and opens out onto the ancient Ohia lehua trees so you feel part of the rainforest. The Aloha cabin, also opens out onto the forest but is a little more luxurious with a comfortable double bed, toilet and kitchen close by. The forest gacilities included the fabulous open air surfboard shower, toilets, kitchen, and really great mobile and wifi reception. Just down the road from Farley O'hana is Kilauea where you can view the lava lake bubbling in the caldera or hike to see the lava flowing into the sea. And that's only just the beginnning, there is a world of outdoor fun and adventure to be found around Volcano which I was sorry I didn't have time to experience this visit...but I will next time!
