First, the good: 1. The location is amazing, approximately a 5 min walk to the subway station, and seconds away from malls, restaurants, bakeries, banks, and convenience stores. It's in the heart of the neighborhood of Sheng Shui; 2. The building is nice and has a doorman, and the surrounding area is also nice. If you think this would be the norm for the amount the host is charging you'd be dead wrong; 3. The price is great considering the excellent location and the extremely expensive real state in Hong Kong; 4. Both the host and Ka Yu (she isn't the host, she helps the host and the guest to communicate because the actual host doesn't speak English) are very kind and helpful, and whenever I texted them they answered in a timely manner; 5. Even though the host doesn't speak English she tried to make my stay pleasant, always smilling and offering me fruits in the morning. The bad: 1. The communication can be difficult on a daily basis if you don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin. Ka Yi is usually reachable through text message but it's quite annoying to go through the steps of texting her, so she can text the host and then text me back with a response about something I asked; 2. The host is a bit oblivious to the guest's presence. She talks on the phone loudly, listen to music early in the morning and push privacy boundaries a little bit. I think she treated me more like her young friend, and even though she was really nice to me, I think she could be more mindful about having a guest in the apartment; 3. The host and Ka Yi failed to tell me about the possibility of having other guests during my stay. I stayed 2 weeks and during this time there were two different men (in separate moments) staying in the next room. I chose this host because I feel more comfortable with female hosts and it felt weird to share the bathroom with another man (plus the host) and knowing there's a strange man next door. Both men were lovely, but the point is that the host must warn the guest about the possibility of having 3 or more people (if it's a couple or family) in the apartment, specially since there's only one bathroom; 4. Cleanliness. My room was fairly clean and the bathoom was decent, as well, but the kitchen had many mini cockroaches everywhere (and I saw it everyday at night). But if you don't cook or will not use the kitchen you'll be fine because both the bathroom and room are fairly clean.
To summarize my experience, I'd still recommend this place for the budgeted guest. The excellent location and the kindness of the host and Ka Yi made my days more pleasant despite the downsides.
