Our boutique hotel is a renovated 150-year Qing Dynasty local courtyard, 2 compounds, in Yulongpu village, 11km away from busy Yangshuo Town. The 2-year renovation aimed to offer the best possible sleeping experience in an hidden and peaceful village, as well as authentic daily life experience in rural China. There are many things to do in surrounding area and we can help you organize these activities. It’s more than a boutique hotel as my family lives here. We warmly welcome friends from afar!

Der Wohnraum

The courtyard:
It consists of 2 original compounds in the courtyard, black brick in the front and mud brick at the back. The black brick building is over 150 years old. A dinning hall & roof terrace is added with mud bricks to keep the original feature of the village. We kept the original wall when doing the interior renovation. The design is try to present a museum of local building architecture.

Hidden peace:
We selected this courtyard mainly due to its isolated location. It's already very busy at Yangshuo town, as well as Yulongpu village as it's becoming popular in recent years. Our property is located at the foot of a karst mountain and surrounding houses were mostly abandoned and just 2 families live here. Once getting into our house, you find it's a hidden gem, no one else could bother you.

Luxury comfort:
Sealy King bed (70in * 90in), we know the importance of sleeping quality after an exhausted day
Large bathtub (63in * 37in)
All Kohler private facilities
Mitsubishi Electric air-conditioning
Danfoss floor heating

Authentic Chinese food:
We are very keen to delicious local food when travelling. We carefully selected local food material and try to offer the best possible authentic local food during your stay.

Rates inclusions:
Western breakfast
Complimentary bikes for cycling around the village
Complimentary local market visit
One round transport to West Street at Yangshuo

This is what you came here for. As Yangshuo town proper continues to grow at a breakneck pace, it's guesthouses like this one that will become critical to providing the kind of authentic experience and interaction that we travel so far to have. Communication with Gary began immediately upon booking. He owns a very successful travel company in Beijing (Great Wall Hiking) with which I had recently enjoyed a magnificent small-group (as in, there were just four of us!) guided hike on the Gubeikou section of the wall. When I heard that Gary had just opened a guest house in Yangshuo County, my next stop, I had to book it, and I'm so, so glad I did. The compound of two connected traditional brick (kiln-fired black brick and golden baked earthen brick) courtyard homes is in the tiny village of Yu Long Pu on the Yulong River and directly at the base of a magnificent karst peak, surrounded by rice paddies, gardens, aqueducts, traditional and more modern homes near the famous Yulong/Dragon Bridge. There are just four two-story king suites plus a dining room/cafe, kitchen, rooftop patio and staff quarters; Gary, his wife, their toddler daughter Olivia and the MEY staff all live on premises. Chef Jason doubles as the resident bike expert who tunes the complimentary bikes. Hospitality manager Iris not only arranges your menu with you and serves all meals but she is also a great biking companion, eager to trade Chinese and English words for everything you will see on your ride. A shy yet bubbly housekeeper will keep your suite in impeccable order every day. And, of course, there is the host, Gary, who is a kind, articulate, savvy and forward-thinking proprietor and businessman who will happily discuss anything and everything you may want to know about modern China as well as history since he did start his career as a guide. Cold beverages such as bottled water (sparkling and still, a nice touch), two kinds of iced tea, Chinese beer, milk and more are free to grab as you head out for a walk or cycle, and multicourse meals in the dining room are prepared fresh using produce from the guesthouse's own garden. The rooms themselves are exceptional, with a little sitting area, a massive modern bathroom to rival a five-star hotel (soaking tub, rain shower, elegant toiletries, fluffy towels), air conditioner, a second half bath, the fanciest toilets I've ever seen, attractive lighting, fresh fruit and five wifi routers throughout the property. Choose your breakfast time, make plans for excursions (Gary can arrange literally anything as he knows every tour provider personally) or just relax with a walk or cycle around the village to the river or follow his very accurate directions for an ambitious ride to Moon Hill and then soak in that tub while a thunderstorm rages outside... Three nights is the absolute bare minimum you would want to stay as you will want at least one or two non-travel days here...

Thanks for staying with us! Both my family and staff members are really pleased to accommodate you here. We're very happy that you enjoyed the experience with us. There are many things to do in Yangshuo and one visit could not let you know the beauty of this place. Hopefully there's another chance to meet you again in a not far future! All the Best!
