Apartment has one bedroom, one bathroom, a living area, a small kitchen and a balcony over looking the inner garden. It's ideally suited to 2 people as there is only one bedroom with one double bed but there is a pull our couch in the living room that would fit 2 more but i've slept there and it's not that comfortable!

Apartment is on the inner side of the complex so is nice and quite well away from the traffic noise on the other side. You'll occasionally hear noise from one of the 2 bars that back onto the complex walls but this is generally only on Saturday nights and isn't too loud.

Apartment has everything as we live in it and just rent it out when we're away. Apt has ...

- Bath / Shower
- Boiler (heats water morning and night)
- Convection Heating (rarely use as apt is quite warm)
- Cooker
- Microwave
- Washing Machine
- Fridge
- WIFI
- Cable TV
- Alarm (never use it)

Outside the apt in the complex, you have full access to all common areas including 2 roof gardens and a central court yard garden as well as car park with a car park space if you need it.

I'm always available via phone, email and generally use (Hidden by Airbnb) to communicate whilst you are here. I'll arrange and meet you either at the airport or here if I'm in the country but i arrange with my friend if I'm not.

We live in a 50 apartment complex in the middle of Dublin's Smithfield Market. Area is famous for it's horse market which used to be monthly but now only twice yearly.

Neighbourhood is a mix of locals, back packers, students and tourists and has been the destination of choice for Dublin's bohemians with artists, musicians choosing the area for inspiration.

The area is safe but every tourist is a target for thieves in any city so just be careful. Smithfield is Dublin's central court district and you'll see judges, lawyers, solicitors and plenty of unsavoury characters during the weekdays.

The hostel chain "Generator" is located in the square and brings a nice mix of back packers.

The Jameson Distillery brings loads of tourists each day. The Dublin tour bus actually starts at the bottom of the square and ends at the Jameson Distillery.

Smithfield Square is on the red tram line ('LUAS'). We're 2 stops (5 mins) to Henry Street which is the North city's major shopping area, 3 stops from O'Connell street (8 mins) which is the official city centre, 4 stops from Dublin's first main inter country train station and Dublin's main bus station (10/12 mins). In the other direction, we're one stop from the National Museum of Ireland (5 mins) and 2 stops from Dublin's second major inter country train station (8 mins) .

If you want to visit Temple Bar (main centre for bars and restaurants - very touristy) or shop on the south cities more elegant Grafton Street, hop off at Henry Street, walk across the river Liffey and you're into Temple Bar. Go straight through, turn left and right and you're onto Grafton Street.

The square is a 10 minute walk to Henry Street lower through the famous fruit market, 15/20 minute to O'Connell Street.

The most flexible way to see the city is the Dublin bike scheme. There are 2 stations in the square and you can purchase a 3 day card at the dock itself with a credit card for a very reasonable rate. Simply take a bike and drop it off at another dock. There are loads of docks splattered around the city.

If you want to rent a car at the airport, we've a car space in the under ground car park and will provide you with a remote control for the car park gate.

Dublin's bus tours start in the square which is a great way to see the city if you've limited time or just want to get your bearings!

We're about 20 minutes by taxi from Dublin airport or 40/50 minutes (depending on traffic) by airport bus (drops you off in O'Connell street, from where you'll take the tram 3 stops)

Smithfield Market was laid out in the mid 17th century as a marketplace. Until its renovation in the early 21st Century, the square was lined with inner city 'farm yards' housing livestock. In 1964 Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor spent time here, as Burton worked on the film set in Smithfield for the film adaptation of John le Carré's novel The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. Smithfield featured as Checkpoint Charlie in the movie.

Smithfield was rejuvenated under the HARP (Historic Area Rejuvenation Plan). An architectural competition was held and won by McGarry NiEanaigh Architects in 1997. The restoration involved lifting more than (phone number hidden) and twenty-year-old cobblestones, cleaning them by hand and re-laying them.

Contemporary architecture and twelve 26.5 metre gas lighting masts, each with a 2-metre flame, now flank the square. Although the flames are rarely lit, the lighting mast shades can at times be seen in different colours, reflecting cultural events throughout the year. For example, they change (email hidden) shade as part of St Patrick's Day celebrations.

The square was used to hold several concerts after its renovation but these were discontinued following complaints from local residents. Although the site has not developed as a 'Western IFSC' as had been originally anticipated (in reference to the city's main financial hub to the east and its related significant 'white-collar professional' residential zones), the plaza is providing a convenient through route for local residents as well as for a number of professionals and users of a range of court and legal-related services and buildings in the area. These range from the Prison Probation Services through to the Family Court and the Law Society of Ireland, amongst others, with Smithfield and Smithfield Market situated in convenient proximity to Dublin's legal/prosecution hub of The Four Courts.
