We have Wild Cat Mountain State Park, 5 miles away for horseback riding, hiking trails, and a scenic overlook. As well as the Kickapoo Wild Life Reserve in Lafarge.

There is Canoe, Kayak and tubing rentals at the Kickapoo River 3 miles away.

Elroy-Sparta Bike trail is about 15 miles away. We are located off of Highway 33 between Cashton and Ontario WI.

Die Unterkunft
The cabin is approximately 900 square feet including the loft. There is a kingsize bed in the loft area. Please note that you will need to walk a flight of stairs to access this area. There is a full size futon couch located on the first floor common living area that can be laid flat forming a full size bed. The cabin is ideal for couples and adults. We are not childproofed and wish to only host adults at this time. We use organic cleaners/products in our cabin and try to live responsibly in this regard. No hunting is allowed on our land and we are not interested in hosting “hunting groups”. We ARE truly here to give people an immersion in nature, peace and soul rejuvination Absolutely NO pets for ANY reason as we have guests/family members stay with us who have allergies to animal hair. We have a fire pit in front of the cabin if you would like to cook by the fire or just enjoy a nice quiet evening.

We regularly see deer, turkey's, hawks, bald eagles and other wild life on our property.

Watch the Amish harvest their fields and hear the distant clip clop of horse drawn buggies as they pass on the road down in the valley. We are 1/2 mile off the main road and located directly in the heart of numerous Amish Shops including furniture, bakeries, leather/tack/harness, log home builders, cheese factories, candy, fabric, quilt, and various types of handiwork shops. Amish tours are available just up the road from us at "Down A Country Road".

We are also 3 miles from the beautiful Kickapoo River with canoe/kayak rental and world famous horseback riding at Wildcat Mountain State Park. The state park also has well marked/mapped walking trails with breathtaking views.

The Ontario/Cashton area boasts some of the best bicycling roads in the country including designated bike lanes between Ontario and LaFarge.

The cabin is located 1/3 mile down the road from our home. We can be there for you if you need anything or want advise regarding the area, but otherwise your experience can be as private as you would like.

Other attractions include:

The Sparta/Elroy bike trail or the Lacrosse River Bike Trail.
Golf on any of three public courses within 20 miles or so.
Boat or take a cruise on the Mississippi River in Lacrosse
Snowboard or ski at Mt. Lacrosse
Visit the Driftless Cafe and in the town of Viroqua..... home to many crafts, local organic food and various artisans. Saturday morning farmers market from 9 am to 12. Outstanding Viroqua Food Coop. Also visit Organic Valley's retail store in Cashton.

Please note, we are strictly a NO SMOKING, NO PETS, NO PARTIES facility. We also clean with environmentally friendly products and stay as scent free as possible for the comfort of our sensitive guests.

We ask guests to please remove shoes upon entering.

Interaction with guests

Interaction is completely up to our guests. We give you total privacy but are right up the hill 1/4 mile if you need anything. If you have any questions, we are happy to assist you. We leave maps and other information in the kitchen island as well. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!!! ****ALSO note...U.S. Cellular and Sprint get great service around our area, Verizon is okay and AT&T is almost nonexistent. There is a phone in the upper loft that you may use for calls within the US if needed.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Winter use of the cabin is dependent on weather conditions. If there has been much snow....you will "usually" need a 4 WD vehicle to make it up to the cabin parking area. We do not have snow removal on the circle drive directly in front of the cabin. Please plan accordingly

Zugang für Gäste
The cabin is about a 1/3 mile down the lane from our family home. You are welcome to wander our 44 acres. We have a cow and our own organic chickens. We generally leave some eggs in the fridge along with milk, juice, local Amish pastry, and condiments for guests to enjoy. The kitchen has most things that you would need and you are welcome to check with me if there is anything you need that you don't find. There are a few games in the coffee table and a bunch of VHS/DVD movies available in the loft. We do not have internet or cable so please be aware of this. Also, cell service is fine with US cellular, but the rest of the companies are sketchy. If you drive to our hilltop home you are welcome to catch the internet.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
Our handcrafted cabin is ideal for a couple or possible third person. The first floor has a futon couch that can be opened into a full size bed for an additional person or two. We are generally available if you need anything or can be reached by cell phone (our family home is 1/3 mile up the hill as well). There is NO Wifi at the cabin, but you are welcome to drive up to our home and access it from your car. Most guest can create a hotspot from their phone to access internet at the cabin if needed.

We are a homeschooling/alternative schooling family living in Cashton, WI and have been here for 20 years now. We originate from the Chicago area where both my late husband and I graduated from Wheaton College. We owned our own business, Olde Wisconsin Hearth, woodstove and fireplace which has been transitioned into Olde Wisconsin Hearth Airbnb. This has become a tremendous blessing. I thoroughly enjoy having others share this beautiful countryside by opening the other side of our home AND log cabin as vacation rentals. (other side has private entrance and is not open to our home) The first comment we hear from visitors is "wow what a beautiful view". We have 7 beautiful, free spirited, artistic children (only 3 left at home now). We love art, the CREATOR, the creation, anything organic and people of all backgrounds, ideas, shapes and sizes!!!! If I had my way....I would be in nature most of the time. We enjoy the great outdoors and love this area of Wisconsin with all of our wonderful Amish neighbors and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do. Welcome!!!!
