- FIRES ARE OUR BIGGEST CONCERN.
OUTDOOR FIRES MUST stay contained in the designated fire "pit" area (grass area only) AND fully extinguished before leaving it for any amount of time. Local county fire laws must be followed.
- Inside fireplace ashes must be left in the fireplace to ensure they burn out (inside the safety of the fireplace), we will clean them out. Any ashes that must be remove from the fire pit or fireplace must be placed in the provided ash can that is located at the log shelter. Ashes can appear to be extinguished but not be fully, let's not take any chances.
PETS: While we are pet friendly on a case by case basis. Unfortunately, we cannot allow cats due to allergies. Dogs MUST be kept on leashes on the cabin property, our concern is traffic on a nearby road, other wildlife (snakes & bear) & local children.
***Please keep pets off of the bed, chairs & couch.***
- Please keeps NOISES to a minimum out of respect for our neighbors. Noise ordinance starts at 9 PM.
- Out of respect for the environment and our home, all TRASH and debris must be contained in trash receptacles located inside the home or in the receptacles located inside the covered area. We do not want any furry critters (bear) coming over for a visit.
- No smoking inside the cabin! Cigarette butts (outside) must be fully extinguished and placed in the designated ash can. Do not throw them into the woods.
- NO CANDLES unless in a safe glass jar. Never leave lit candles unattended & double-check to be sure they are completely extinguished.
POND: There is a man-made small pond on the property, please be sure children are watched at all times when outside.
I am a native of Washington DC, (not many of us left.) and My husband is a Marylander.
Both of us have been coming out to the mountains of WV for many years. My family fist started coming out to the Shenandoah Valley in the 70's, I'm sure that's why I have an affinity for the mountains. My husband, before he became my husband, was also venturing out, purchasing a log cabin not far from this one. A perfect match. After we got married it seemed the natural course to pick up and get out of the city. Now living in Middletown, VA. We are Parents to two boys (young men now), a dog and a bird.
Our home is a short 30 minute drive to our cabin in the woods. A place of peace & rejuvenation of spirit.
I am a designer locally and an artist, as is my husband. He is a jeweler in Bethesda, MD and a successful musician keeping him busy doing what he loves.
Our oldest boy is a successful chef in Nashville while our youngest is college bound with a drive for business.
We could not be more grateful and love that we can share what we think is truly special with our guests.
