Welcome to a great getaway in lovely Pine Hill!
The unit is a private apartment. I'm Tony, your host.
Enjoy the season's colors in the yard and hamlet beyond, hiking, the Library, the museum, Community Center and our restaurants and shops. There's a kitchen for cooking your own meals (if you like), or visit one of the nearby hotel restaurants' buffets and dinners, or the Zephyr's wonderful range of farm-to-table cooking. The Community Center features Coffee's Ready daily, and goings-on daily.
THERE ARE SPECIAL DEALS FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON. Get in touch.
In summer, cool weather; in autumn and winter, the smell of wood burning fires drifts through the air days and evenings. Are you looking for a week, a month or the entire season?
This little country place is comfortable, easy to live in, well designed and is simply furnished. The apartment has hardwood floors, and is area-carpeted. The full bathroom has tiled floors, wainscotting, and an antique pedestal sink. The main room has a sleeping alcove. The place is moments away from the Morton Library, Shandaken Museum, and the Pine Hill Community Center's ongoing events if you want to go out, weekday and weekend dining, too. Cable is available. The unit has included wi-fi if you watch TV (no TV, but can be arranged) or if you just stream. If you want to bring your food, there are cooking utensils in the kitchen. You can shop in Kingston, Boiceville or Margaretville, if you are going to stay in.
At the Belleayre Plaza nearby, there is a basics-type store with deli and staples, should you run out. A newly hired housekeeper is keeping the place neat and clean.
This is a large sunny, studio apartment in a quiet building. It's alongside a babbling brook (no swimming or wading please), which is a wonderfully peaceful sound to fall sleep to. It's a short walk from buses (Trailways--see important notes in Guest Access-- the UCAT's bus stop is even closer AND cheaper) to bring you or to take you back to Kingston or NYC via Trailways after a weekend of swimming, hiking or recuperating from your busy schedule. The buses will also bring you to Phoenicia, Woodstock, Hunter and Kingston for jaunts farther afield. If you are driving, the house is off Route 28, on Main Street in Pine Hill.
This is a terrific getaway, and must be seen to be appreciated. Utilities are included. Security will be required for the longer term stays. If you don't have a car, there are car owners in the hamlet who will drive you for a small fee to get groceries in Margaretville.
Zugang für Gäste
The unit is self contained, and provides ready access to street and the village.
It has its own entrance, separate from the rest of the building. Parking is right out front. Three restaurants are down the street- The Arms, The Zephyr, and The Colonial (a Saturday eve buffet), the Community Center (and Coffee's Ready- every day now) and the Morton Library and Shandaken Museum, with things to do almost every day, as well as local arts and crafts for sale.
There is also a website set up (Pine Hill in the Catskills) with info about Pine Hill history, walking tours, where to eat, library and museum hours (yep, we have a museum, too) etc. Check it out for hiking and tour info, as well as bus information.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO TAKE THE BUS, ONLINE PURCHASES CAN ONLY BE USED FOR THE TIME NOTATED ON THE PRINTOUT! BETTER TO PURCHASE BUS TICKETS AT THE DEPOT FROM TRAILWAYS. Checkout--
I make concessions for Trailways bus riders checking out on Sundays by 4PM. Please do not make reservations for later than the bus departing about that time (usually 4:10, 6:11) without first contacting me.
Again, if you purchase your tickets at a ticket counter, you will have much greater flexibility in use of your ticket.
Interaktion mit Gästen
IMPORTANT: I usually require 24 hours between guest stays in order to clean and restock the unit. Please check the calendar! If you see the getaway listed as TAKEN on a day immediately preceding or following a date you would like to stay, I may not be able to honor your request, but ask.
My interaction with guests is usually minimal. When requested, I do my best to assist. If privacy is what you want, it's there for you!

Graphic Artist and Designer, a part-time Pine Hillian, alternating between NYC and upstate. I have been working on the Pine HIll place for years, restoring a building that had suffered from decades of neglect. All the interiors have been restored where possible, or redesigned for today's living; plumbing, electrical and interiors are new or replaced. Generally, furniture is not! Currently only the studio is available but more is on the way!
I usually like to meet my guests, though it's not always necessary or possible. I like to know that they are happy with the place and that they have everything they need for a comfortable stay. Always ready to answer questions and solve problems, regardless of location.
