You will love Maryann's custom built house in the woods. It is a perfect set up for someone who is looking for a classic Maine feeling that isn't far off the main road. You will have your own entrance and bathroom w/ a nice skylight in the room. Maryann's kind hospitality will give you a very welcoming feeling from the start! Her house is only 45mins away from Acadia which was perfect for us as we wanted a more secluded place that wasn't too far. Also, you will fall in love w/ her new puppy, Mickey!!
Maryann was wonderful to communicate with leading up to our trip, and although we didn't run into her while we were there (late night arrival, early leaving both days), we did run into Bob who was wonderfully nice in the morning and even helped me find some glue/tape to fix a trekking pole! Definitely worth staying here if you are looking in the Acadia area and want to stay a little bit away from the main area.
Maryann and Bob are wonderful hosts. They left us clear instructions for check in and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They let us use the kitchen and had fruits/snacks for us. The house is beautiful with a private door to the guest room. The room is very clean and cozy and has a skylight ceiling. The house is an hour away from Acadia National Park. We stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved the place.
Maryann's place was splendid. It's a beautiful room with private address. Maryann and her husband Bob were incredibly accommodating in offering us the use of the groceries/fridge for our breakfasts. The house is in a serene area of the woods in Orland and was a beautiful setup for a drive into Acadia.
Maryann and Bob are warm, wonderful hosts...very welcoming and flexible. The house is attractively decorated with plenty of windows for natural light and surrounded by the beautiful greenery of Maine. Only a short drive into Bucksport where there are some restaurants and shops and a lovely view of the Penobscot River. We enjoyed our stay immensely!
