Rustic timbers on the outside reflecting the heritage of the area as an old timber mill town, the cottage is surprisingly fresh and welcoming on the inside. It is a tranquil, clean and happy place to stay - a good place to curl up with a book and a glass of wine. We are a short 5 minute drive to Margaret River and close to many of the popular wineries and beautiful beaches. We have walking/bike trails close by.
We warmly welcome and look forward to meeting people from all walks of life.
The cottage sits in our back garden. It is not attached to the main house and is very quiet for both as our living areas are at the front of our house and all well soundproofed. Once inside the cottage, it is very private with it's own North facing garden/deck and warm ambience.
We are very happy to pop some laundry in for you free of charge whist you are out enjoying being tourists. You are more than welcome to wander through our garden and pick fresh vegies and herbs for your cooking or sit in the rocking chairs on the verandah and relax.
We can also provide a bbq upon request for you to cook on. The kitchen has a portable 2 burner cooktop and a microwave oven and all the necessary appliances
If you require anything else like a rice cooker, blender etc we can easily provide these to you.
We provide a loaf of fresh bread, cereal, milk, butter, jams, freerange eggs, vegemite, tea, fresh yahava coffee, herbal teas and hot chocolate. We also pop a bottle of wine in if you stay for 3 nights or more and choccie biscuits.
All floors are tiled to minimise allergies with just one light rug under the dining table. I only use enjo and natural products to clean with. Please let me know if you are sensitive to washing detergents for the linen on booking and I will wash with a low allergy brand.
You are welcome to borrow our bikes and ride the nearby heritage Wardandi Rails to Trails track meandering through vineyards, farmland and forest.

Entirely up to you. We are very mindful of not invading your privacy-this being said we may occasionally be in the rear of the main garden to chop wood or water the garden but we aim to do this when you are out whenever possible.
We are only a phone call away or a knock on the back door if needed.
Weitere wichtige Infos
We do have pets. We have 2 cats who live inside at night time. You may see the young slightly nutty ragdoll kitten 'Arlo' tearing up trees and falling out of them in the back garden but no pets have access to your little deck garden. The bordercollie dog will be in the front yard fenced off from the back yard unless you want to throw a ball for her over and over again....she spends most days at work on a farming property pretending to be a real working dog.
Although not pets, in the warmer months we have black King skinks (lizards) living in our garden. They are not aggressive, not poisonous and will not bite you unless you grab them. They like to lie on the deck in the main garden(not your small deck) and soak up the sun but will quickly scurry away hiding when you come. You will see we have low water bowls in the garden for them and if you like you can leave out chopped tomato, watermelon, lettuce or strawberries and they will eat them and if you sit quietly you may see them.
Strictly NO SMOKING ANYWHERE on our property-our cottage is timber and we are in a very high fire risk area.
Quiet time after 10 pm in respect of our very nice neighbors.
No extra guests to stay unless by prior arrangement with us.
Early check in and late check out upon prior approval.
Rc heating and cooling must be turned off when you are not in the cottage.
Access gates to the property need to be closed and latched please.
Thankyou for abiding by our house rules.
My family and I live in our own home in a tiny town called Witchcliffe which is 8kms or 5 minutes drive along Bussell highway South of Margaret River.
We recently started hosting and are so happy to have made this decision. It has been fantastic meeting people. We love our home and really enjoy sharing it.
Our house was built in 1923 and was an original timber mill single men's cottage. It sits on a lovely quiet street with 5 other timber/stone character homes facing old vineyard /farming land. We have spent the past 6 years renovating it and spending many hours in the garden turning it into a green and productive space. We have also just completed an extension on our original single room cottage in the rear of our yard adding a small kitchen , large bathroom and private deck/garden area. Up until recently, I have used the garden cottage as my art studio and am now in the process of moving into an old shed which is to be my new studio space. We have recycled and 're used the beautiful old timbers from the vintage garden shed and 90 year old supports from our rainwater tanks in this build, trying to retain as much authenticity and character as possible, whilst offering up some of the more modern comforts in a creative setting.
My interests are art, reading, gardening, horses and woodworking and we love the beach/surfing laid back lifestyle. We love our animals and have a ball crazy border collie Billie who 'works' on a farm on weekdays, 2 cats (indoor at night) and a horse (agisted elsewhere)
A short 3 minute walk away we have the fully restored Wadandi 'Rails to Trails' walk/bike track which is a distance of approximately 25 kms long meandering through farmland, vineyards and forest. We are 7 km from Redgate beach and the Cape to Cape walking trail and close by to Leeuwin estate, Voyager, Xanadu, Watershed, Stella Bella and Redgate Wineries. We love living in the country and enjoy being part of our vibrant and diverse community.
We offer a quiet escape which even though it is sharing our property, is still very private and relaxing. We are mindful of people's needs for privacy and comfort and hope to make every stay enjoyable.
