Escape into nature at our lakefront house on 7 acres. Enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing on picturesque Three Mile Pond. The house was designed for extended family vacations: three gathering areas including a screened-in porch; a fully-equipped kitchen; table seating for 14; many indoor and outdoor games; and flexible sleeping arrangements for adults and children. Our guidebook provides detailed information about nearby hikes, antique stores, breweries, wineries, restaurants and much more!
The house, property, and lake offer something for everyone! Inside there is space to relax, read, cook, play board games, assemble puzzles, play music, watch the birds that gather at many bird feeders, and enjoy the views of the lake. Outside there is room for croquet, badminton, volleyball, bocce ball, cornhole, and making fairy houses.
We love our lake! Enjoy the sun or a good book while relaxing on dock chairs, skip rocks along the shore, swim or float in the water, explore the lake using our canoe and kayaks, or set off in your own sailboat or motorboat using the nearby public boat launch.
If fishing is your thing, bring your gear; Three Mile Pond is amply stocked and is even home to a few bass fishing tournaments.
When you arrive please be certain to read the first section of our Sylvan Glade Guidebook, which provides guidelines and rules for ensuring that you have an enjoyable time that respects our house, our neighbors, and the lake.
The guidebook also includes sections on many topics including the all important "Where to Get Your Maine Lobster", as well as tips about grocery shopping, fishing licenses, local restaurants, and area attractions.
For those with infants and toddlers: please be aware that the stairs to the 2nd floor are steep and are not conducive to installing a baby gate.

You will have access to the full house except for one small owner's closet. Enjoy our game and puzzle collection, well-stocked bookshelves, and a fully-equipped kitchen including spices and a pot big enough to steam a few lobsters. We will also provide some basics to hold you over until your first trip to the grocery store: a roll of paper towels, a kitchen sponge, hand soap, dish soap, a few garbage bags, and a few rolls of TP. We will provide kitchen towels and a hand towel in each bathroom.
We are unable to provide linens and unfortunately there is not a linen service in our area. You will need to bring your own sheets and bath/lake towels. If this is a hardship (for example if you are flying, or if you have no king-sized sheets) please contact me and we'll work something out!
You will have access to the washer and dryer and an outdoor clothesline for drying lake towels and bathing suits.
You will have use of our canoe and three kayaks, and we provide an assortment of life jackets. You may want to bring swim shoes. We will provide "noodles" for the lake; you may want to bring rafts/inflatables. You will have access to a plug-in air pump.
You will not have access to the garage, but you will have access to a shed that houses a brand new BBQ grill, outdoor games (croquet, bocce ball, volleyball net, cornhole set, etc.), and some outdoor furniture.
Dogs not ideal but will be considered on a case-by-case basis; please contact us for more information. Warning to those with pet allergies: we clean thoroughly between guests of course, but we do sometimes bring our dogs which means that we cannot guarantee an allergen-free house.
Non-smokers preferred. Absolutely no smoking in the house including the screen porch. If you must smoke outside please be very careful with your ashes and dispose of your cigarettes responsibly.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of our house and our neighbors!

Our house began as a small "camp" built by our family in 1971; it has evolved into this lovely four bedroom home. My grandparents retired here and imbued it with their calm but powerful energy. We are thrilled to be able to keep the house in the family by sharing it through airbnb. I have been coming here almost every year since I was 3, and my two children have been here every summer of their lives. It is a magical place and we look forward to sharing it with you and your family.
