We enjoyed our stay while in phoenix and this place worked well for our purposes, however, this place will not work well for some. The good: The location is as advertised. It is within walking distance to a lot of cool bars and restaurants. We loved "the grand" which is a 24 hour speakeasy/coffee shop/cafe that was a few blocks from the apartment. We went to a concert at "The Van Buren" venue which is also a few blocks from the apartment. It was also a great place for the dogs. The street right outside the apartment was good for walking the dogs; There was a sidewalk with ample area for them to relieve themselves. Check in and check out was easy (however the lock box is at the main entrance on the west side of the building not at the south west gate like the directions state), and Ardent kept in constant contact with us during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. The bad: The heat in Phoenix is unbearable in the summer and this apartment has a tiny wall mounted AC unit. When we arrived the unit was turned off so the room was around 100 degrees, but cooled off after we turned it on. We also were not in the apartment during the peak heat hours so I'm not sure how hot the apartment gets when it is 110 outside. If you overheat easily, and are visiting in the summer, then this is probably not the place for you. This unit is more of a studio apartment than a 1BR. It was very close quarters for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Also the kitchen has nice appliances, but no equipment to use them. There are plates and silverware but that's it (it was probably too hot to do any cooking anyway). While the location in the city is great, the immediate neighborhood around the apartment is a bit sketchy. The neighborhood seems to be newly gentrified as there is a large homeless population. The apartment complex itself is secure with locked gates, but just be prepared to interact with a few homeless people while walking to your destination. Probably not a family friendly area. We spent a quick weekend in Phoenix (with 2 dogs) to go to a concert and visit a few bars. This place worked well for a cheap place to sleep while we explored the city.

So close to ASU! Perfect for 2! I stayed by myself for the week to settle my daughter in at college first year. I walked everywhere at all hours. Safe! Police presence and not needed! Just the right size to rest in between what I needed to do for my daughter and an escape for me. So much closet space!!! Never needed to eat out. The full kitchen was great! Can't wait to visit again!

Cute place, perfect for me and my husband, but would have been crowded with more adults. Not the best neighborhood, but you can tell they're trying to revitalize it. It's very close to downtown- so good restaurants and a nice view of city. But because it's so close to downtown there's a large homeless population. It has a locked gate on exterior of building so it still felt reasonably safe, though some of the neighbors were quite sketchy. It was clean enough, and had a kitchen with most necessities. If you plan to cook a lot of meals you'll need a better knife, and a cutting board. The coffee maker was missing the coffee pot and basket to put coffee in so we had to buy instant. There was only one(very small) coffee cup, so I had to buy my own. They left us with 1.5 rolls of toilet paper and we had to contact to ask if we should buy our own(along with a sponge and soap for the dishwasher). They dropped off toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner but didn't supply sponge, soap or bring replacement coffee pot. One final word of warning... maybe don't go to Phoenix in July. It was a small apartment with one little air conditioner so when it was 117 outside it was probably still 85-90 inside. The pool was nice though!
