This unit is what we expected after we read the reviews. It's small but functional. Had 4 fisherman staying at the home and we loved how close it was to the Cape Vincent boat ramp. Will stay again next year!

Our party of 7 really enjoyed our stay at Jacqualine's property right on the St. Lawrence River!! We were able to easily bike into Cape Vincent to take ferry over to Wolfe Island then on to 2nd ferry to Kingston Ontario for lunch. Back at homebase we enjoyed swimming, relaxing on deck, grilling and sitting by fire pit. Perfect getaway on the St. Lawrence River for a few days!!

We loved staying at the cottage. It was cozy and comfy and exactly what we needed for a few days away from it all. It's definitely smaller than we thought but it was all we needed. There were 3 bedrooms. Only one bedroom has an A.C. unit though. And no fans. And no ceiling fans either which would have been perfect. All linens and pillows are included. Which honestly makes it amazing because who wants to worry about bringing all that stuff? The kitchen appliances are slightly outdated but that's ok, because they did the job. There's a Keurig and a regular coffee pot. Also a microwave, no toaster though so I had to learn to use a toaster oven . The kitchen is fully loaded with all the necessities. All you need is food. Everything was very clean and tidy. The living room was my favorite because it had an amazing view of the river and Wolfe Island. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. Yes, I saw the sunrise . I have a toddler. He was up that early. Lol. But honestly it was really cozy. There's a big table that seats 6 easy. And 3 windows that open with screens. 4 total but one gave us issues so we only opened the other 3 in the living room. There's a small fenced in deck for privacy with a grill and a tabke and chairs and umbrella . And 2 chairs in the lawn and 2 more on the lower deck. There's a dock and stairs to a lower one where we fished from . In the morning the water is so still we could see the carp from the living room windows . It was peaceful and calm and i would stay again.

Wonderful location, wonderful view! The cottage was very nice, clean, and vey well equipped. Jacqualine was a great hostess; communication and planning was very easy. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to spend time in the area!

The owner was very easy to work with and had great & efficient communication with us. The area is nice, though there are neighbors, it is secluded and quiet. But it is on a busy highway, so going for a walk or run is a bit risky, as there is no shoulder and best to drive into town. The home is small, but plenty for our family, and surrounded by beautiful outdoor area - the reason we were there, so the size wasn't really a problem. But it is older, and bedrooms are tight. There were also a ton of dead bugs all around, every corner in every room, I would have liked to see them cleaned up with a shop vac in between guests. (Given where we were, I would not be upset by a couple here or there, but they were everywhere, including the counters and sinks.) There is no central AC, which again is not a huge deal, but maybe leave a welcome note/instructions with where and how to use the window & portable units (as well as how you would like them left, to a certain temp or turned off completely, etc). I had never used a portable AC unit, so had to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for a manual, and even then couldn't find the exact right one, and try to figure out how to assemble the parts, where to put it, etc – instruction sheet or labels would have been helpful here. It does have a beautiful waterfront back yard, which was great for sitting and relaxing, and letting the kids run around. Access to the water is down a narrow set of stairs to a small landing. However, the access to the water is limited to stairs and a small landing on the water. No "beach" or walkable area down at the water level to put your feet in or anything. We did love the access from here to other points along the river, visiting Clayton & Alexandria Bay, as well as hopping over to Canada easily from this vacation spot.

These are all good suggestions and we appreciate your feedback. A few of things we would like to reply about... Bugs: Being near the water and the springtime season brings these small insects that are about the size of a mosquito (but they do not bite) to the area. These bugs are attracted to the light so they tend to gather at the screened windows in the evenings and unfortunately some of them make their way into the home. This home does get a thorough cleaning in between guests but inevitably some bugs still get in every time the doors open to the outside. There is a vacuum cleaner in the back bedroom closet available to guests with a detachable hose that works great for getting them cleaned up. Air Conditioners: With the age of the home, central air conditioning isn't an option so we rely on one window unit, one wall unit, and the portable unit. We inadvertently neglected to set up the portable unit in advance but offered to do so the following day because we didn't mean for our guests to be burdened with such things. Waterfront: The River is at a record high this spring. Typically, the stairway would lead to a few inches of water where guests could get their feet wet and walk along the smooth river stones and then enter as they wish into deeper water for swimming. This year the water is about three feet above the normal range making our stairway mostly submerged. We are disappointed by this but can't control it.
