Montgomery's Coach House, as the name suggests, is a converted former Coach House. It is pet friendly and sleeps up to 4 people in 2 spacious bedrooms that can be set up as super king doubles or twins. We offer high quality, self-catering accommodation in a relaxed, rural setting. Whitney on Wye is a small village, just over 4 miles from the famous literary town of Hay on Wye and 15 miles from the cathedral city of Hereford.
Montgomery’s Coach House was converted to a high standard, using only local craftsmen and retaining its original character wherever possible. The interior is a mix of original stone, old brick and new oak.
The property is within the grounds of The Agent's House, built at the turn of the 20th century for the land agent of nearby Whitney Court. Today it is a fully equipped, self-catering cottage. The owners, who live in the main house, are on hand in case assistance is required, but will otherwise leave you in peace to enjoy your stay after settling you in and helping with any questions you may have.
Inside, a flagstone hallway with bespoke oak staircase opens into the main living room; the open plan arrangement downstairs is perfect for modern day living. A BluRay DVD player links to the TV, which also connects to WiFi if you have an online movies subscription, etc. The seating and dining area leads through to the fully fitted kitchen which includes microwave, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. All crockery, glasses, saucepans and a wide range of utensils are included. Basic supplies of tea, coffee and sugar are provided, as well as dishwasher tablets, tea towels, etc.
There is under floor heating throughout the downstairs, with the addition of a wood burner to ensure a cosy stay at any time of year. An initial supply of logs is provided; extra supplies can be purchased locally.
The staircase from the lobby leads upstairs to two large bedrooms and a shower room. Both bedrooms have superking beds that can be made up as twins on request. High quality, hypo-allergenic bedding and towels are included. Both bedrooms are equipped with flat screen TV's with integrated DVD players, hair dryers and hot water bottles.
Subject to availability, it may also be possible to provide a travel cot and/or high chair on request - please ask. A stair gate and fire guard are permanently in the property.
Outside there is a private deck and ample parking for several cars on a gated drive. Guests with dogs also have use of a gated, fenced grass area. Policy guidelines, based on the size of the property, are two dogs but it depends on size, etc., so please ask if you wish to bring more.
Set in the peaceful location of Whitney-on-Wye, the Coach House is just over 4 miles from the literary town of Hay on Wye. If you are not feeling energetic, there are lovely walks from the door and the property is within a few minute's walk of a local pub (providing lovely home cooked food), a general store & family run farm shop with cafe. At the same time, we are within easy driving distance of the Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as a number of major walking trails. The nearby pub is also a stop-off for canoeing on the River Wye. We could go on!
Zugang für Gäste
The Coach House has its own self-contained outside space, surrounded by fencing, walls and gates. For owners with pets, we don't say it is 100% secure because we find this depends on the size of the pet and their inclination to escape. For this reason, we recommend pet owners supervise their pets while they are outside.

In our previous working lives, both my husband and I spent considerable time travelling and staying in hotels, bed & breakfast and holiday cottage accommodation. We believe this has given us some insight into what makes a welcoming & comfortable stay and we've tried to translate this into our own standards in the way we run our property and present our B & B rooms and holiday cottage. Our guests regularly comment on our attention to detail and they like the little touches that help make our accommodation comfortable and a real home from home.
