The hobbit house is straw bale and lime plaster built using timber coppiced from the site. The roof is insulated using sheep’s wool along with various other breathable and recycled materials. It is an example of sustainability in practice. It has two double bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and outside decking.
The hobbit house forms part of the Sychpwll Centre, a ten acre eco-friendly smallholding backing on to the River Vyrnwy on the border of England and Wales. We have a number of canoes our guests are welcome to use and some dip their toes to cool off in the river. The centre is an interesting place to explore and take in the beauty of the surroundings. There are some good rock climbing areas close by and options for numerous other outdoor pursuits.
