Annie’s Surf Shack is an upscale, top floor oceanfront condo, with unobstructed panoramic views of the ocean and the islands of Molokai and Lanai. The condo complex built on a seawall with direct access to a sandy neighborhood beach next door. The condo is located 7 miles north of Lahaina Town, in the Kahana, a quiet residential area. Beaches, restaurants, Pubs, coffee shops and markets are all within walking distance. If you’re looking for a Local Zen getaway, this is the place for you.

Our condo is a one bedroom condo with a queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress in the living room.
We have WiFi, Smart TV, Bose Sound Bar and basic Cable for your enjoyment
The kitchen has everything you to entertain up to 8 guest. Pots, pans, cookware, blender, toaster, microwave and coffee maker. We also have a full size refrigerator w/freezer or stove/oven.
The bedroom has a new king size bed, firm but comfortable. A travel safe for your valuables. Clock w/usb charging ports for your convenience.
The bathroom comes with bath towels and beach towels. We will try and supply one beach towel for each person in your party.
There is no air conditioning in ANY of the 88 condos in our building. It is really not necessary in this area of the island.
We are fortunate to be in an area that gets the tradewinds VERY reliably which keeps the condo at a nice temperature - usually 70-74 degrees. We bought this condo because of the area knowing that the west Maui trades blow through here.
However, there are times when the wind doesn't blow. It's rare but does happen. It's tropical here and a bit different than what you're probably used to. The temperature averages between 70-82 F during the day. It is pleasant but not stifling humid heat! We have personally experienced about 3-5 "uncomfortable" days in the years we've been in the area so I don't want to tell you it can't happen.
We do have two ceiling fans. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. There are also floor fans in the condo.
There is a sandy beach right down the steps at our building. You can snorkel out front too! We have beach chairs, boogie boards, swim noodles and snorkel gear available. See "Guest Access" for more information about access to the beach.

We have smart locks on the front door for Host Free Check-In. This way you can check yourself in any time after 3:00 PM. You will receive an email a few days before your check-in with your access code and wifi password.
There are two entrances to the ocean/beach: Please read carefully!
The beach entrance is a stairway at the north end of the property. (The stairs are on the right side the property facing the ocean.) The stairs lead directly to a private beach with golden brown sand. To reach the beach, walk down the stairs to the narrow beach (that is a bit gravelly) and walk another 100 feet. The beach opens out to a beautiful beach with soft golden brown sand. (FOR CLARITY PLEASE SEE PHOTOS)
The water entrance is a stairway that leads DIRECTLY TO THE WATER. The stairs are located just left of the pool. (NO SANDY BEACH) This stairway can be tricky in the afternoon, because of the afternoon wind chop. (FOR CLARITY PLEASE SEE PHOTOS)
★WARNING★- For people with mobility issues, the stairs can be tricky. The stairs to the beach are relatively steep. The stairs do get wet and at high tide, they can become slippery from splashing waves.
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER before staying at Annie’s Surf Shack:
There are No Resort Fees. Hawaii State Tax of 13.46% is included in our rate. Most places will charge this on top of your room rate.
We live in a residential area, so NO PARTIES are permitted in our home during your stay. Small gatherings are expected, but please no parties.
We are quiet and close to everything. We are NOT located in the big resort areas. If you are looking for a quiet romantic location, this is it!
Strict No Smoking Policy:
Kahana Reef is a no smoking building. This policy includes the use of any tobacco products. e.g. Cigarettes, E-Cigarettes, Pipes, Cigars, Smokeless tobacco or Vap-Pens. There is "No Smoking" inside the condo or on the Lanai.
There are designated smoking areas in the parking lot at both north and south ends of the parking lot.
While most likely you’ll have rented a car, Public Transportation is available. We are located on Bus Route #28, which will take you to Whaler’s Village and Lahaina Town. The bus stop is one block away in either direction. Bus fares run $2.00 each way and daily passes can be obtained for $4.00. Uber is available here in Maui. Taxi service is crazy expensive.
Parking for one vehicle is provided. Please place your parking pass on the dashboard of your vehicle when parking at Kahana Reef. There is no assigned parking. You are allowed to park anywhere in the parking lot. Please remove valuables from your vehicle and lock your car when you park. While car prowling is not a problem at Kahana Reef, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
As this is our home and not a hotel, you will "NOT" receive daily housekeeping. There are coin-op washers and dryers on site for your convenience. They are located behind the office on the ground floor. The washer/dryer and use quarters. They are very large capacity machines, so you can do a lot of laundry in one load. We use the washing facility all the time. The cost of a wash is $1.75 to do a load in the washer and the same for the dryer.
We do not have daily maid service. It is available for an additional fee if you are interested.
We offer a discount off the daily rate for weekly (7-night) stays and for reservations of 28 nights, or longer. (Excluding Holidays, and High Season.)

There is a $165 cleaning fee for each stay. We believe in paying a living wage to the maids that clean our condo. Hawaii is an expensive place to live and raise a family. We hope that you understand why our rates are what they are.
There is no beach (sand) in front of the condo. We are on a Sea Wall. There are two ways to get to the ocean: Ocean entry or Beach entry.
Ocean Entry: You may access the ocean directly by the stairway just to the left of the pool. Please be careful entering the water here. It can be rough, especially in the afternoon.
Sandy Beach Entry: The beach can be directly accessed by using the stairway to the far north/right side of property facing the beach. You will walk down the stairs and and land on narrow sandy and a little rocky beach. Walk for about 25 yard (22.5 meters) and the beach will widen out. There is plenty of beach for you to lay out on. There some nice shady areas too. The sand is very soft here. I like that sand squeaks between your toes when you walk.

Again, we "DO NOT HAVE" air conditioning. We find that there is no need for it. Being on the ocean, we have ocean breezes blowing through the condo all day and night long. On the rare occasions that the Kona Winds are blowing, the ceiling and tower fans keep us comfortable. Since we have security screens on the front door, we simply leave the front door and the lanai door open, and the breeze blows through the condo. We seldom sleep in the bedroom. We prefer to sleep on our queen size memory foam hide a bed in the front room. This way we get to listen to the waves and enjoy the cool sea breeze all night long. There is nothing like sleeping to the sound of the ocean.
There is a strict "no hanging any clothing or towels over the lanai railing rule" at Kahana Reef. Please hang clothing or towels on the hooks provided on the Lanai "OUT OF VIEW" or in the bathroom. The owners will be fined for not observing this rule. This fine will be passed onto the visitor if they are found in violation of this policy.
It is Tenant's responsibility to immediately notify Owners of the Annie's Surf Shack of any issues that they incur during their stay so that they may be promptly addressed. Owners of Annie's Surf Shack shall not be held liable, or otherwise take any responsibility, for any injuries that may occur to Tenant, and/or Tenant's invitee, that is caused or permitted to be caused by the intentional, unintentional, negligent, or careless acts of said Tenants, and/or invitees to the Annie's Surf Shack, the property and/or the possessions on the property including all structures and equipment. By the written or electronic endorsement of this Agreement, Tenant agrees to forever hold harmless and indemnify Owners of Annie's Surf Shack from any liability and/or responsibility arising therefrom.
