I rented the room for 2 weeks in June 2017.
My stay there was very pleasant. When I arrived, the landlord welcomed me kindly, explained me everything and let me rest. I stayed in one room, and the landlord's family was in another one. I shared the kitchen and the bathroom, which I found clean and tidy. The apartment was renovated shortly before my arrival, so it was all good.
It's a normal shared apartment where the family has been living for several years, so don't expect a lot of luxury, but it is an excellent quality/price ratio. And the landlord's family is welcoming, helpful and respectful. I had internet, clean towels and bedclothes, a small kettle and some glasses, my own keys. I was free to use the washing machine and the iron (which was very important to me as I was working and I had to wash and iron my shirts etc.).
And they have a very nice cat as well!
To finish, the area is very nice and central. Some 20 minutes walking to the University, 20 minutes to the Golden Gate, 15 minutes to the metro station, 2 minutes to the trolleybus, 5 minutes to the tramway. There are some restaurants and shops nearby (some open 24/24). The building itself is a nice green building from the 19/20th century (socalled "tsarist").
