We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sonia's house in Maucomble. It is spacious enough for a family of four and has almost everything you need for a self-catering stay apart from a barbecue. It is situated close to the autoroute, providing easy access to nearby locations such as Neufchâtel-en-Bray and Saint Saëns (for grocery shopping), Rouen, Dieppe, Forges-les-eaux, and even places further afield, such as Amiens, Caen, Bayeux, Eu and Le Tréport.
The accommodation is perfect for a summer vacation in the country, away from the congestion and crowds of a big city, experiencing life at a slower pace and enjoying the natural beauty in the surrounding area, while still being able to enjoy easy access to a couple of larger towns or cities within 30-60 minutes' drive.
In terms of facilities, just about everything has been thought of, so there's plenty of hot water for baths and showers, a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and conventional ovens, and a patio table and chairs for al fresco dining. Internet access via the supplied 4G connection was patchy during poor weather, but there is a TV with plenty of French channels and a DVD player.
Finally, the owner, Sonia, is really lovely and made our holiday by taking our children to the local dairy farm to show them around, as the farmer is a friend of hers. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet retreat in the country that's child-friendly and well-equipped, this home is about as good as it gets.
