As your host, I feel incredibly lucky to get an opportunity to converse with different people from all walks of life and so it would be a great pleasure to chat from time to time but also head out - whenever possible - and show you the fun and interesting things Arusha has to offer. Getting to know the locals way of life as well as people living in rural Arusha can be one thing we do.
As mentioned, the house has a variety of games for game night and the oven outside is usually a good excuse to invite people over and interact from time to time if you’re up for it.
If however you’ll be down here for some quiet time, I get it. I absolutely respect the guest wishes with the level of interaction they prefer.
Weitere wichtige Infos
We do have a dog (Maandazi) and a cat (Chapati).
There is a small yard of uncut grass on the far side of the house for the neighbor’s goats to feed off of. It is sectioned off and therefore doesn’t interfere with the house’s main yard’s maintenance.
We live right next to a kiosk that grinds maize for the local community’s flour, so maybe twice a week you will hear some buzzing machine sound from outside. Luckily, the house is far enough so it’s a faint buzz, like background noise and only happens for a few minutes.

Hi there! I’m Rukia, a 23 year old Tanzanian and I’ve recently returned to my hometown – Arusha - full time after university in South Africa and thought I’d try Air BnB. I feel like saying “I love meeting new people” has been beyond over used, but I think they say it because it’s true to them like it’s true to me. Using the Air BnB template for what to put on here, here we go.
The 5 things I can't live without are - in no particular order- films (foreign, shorts, that kind of thing) my natural hair, my family (sometimes), any dish to do with chicken and music. As for favorite travel destination, I haven't traveled as much as I'd like to so far but I did live in Kampala, UG and nothing compares to that time. Favorite books are any books Theodore Zeldin has written that I have read and not read, as well as Treasury of World Masterpieces - Oscar Wilde Collection. It may seem as if I like to read a lot, but when I don’t have time for that I like to pretend to be reading when someone walks by. As for shows, anything silly - but mostly I binge watch stand up comedy like my life depends on it. Right now I am “in between personal projects” – which is code for “unemployed”. It would be great to chat to you about them!
Life motto? I live by two - "The hardest part of life is getting to the easy part" and "bravery requires risk". I live with Maandazi (dog) and chapatti (cat) as well as two housemates I hope you’ll get to meet. I welcome you to our space and hope you’ll have a great time.
