A very rare find. We still wake up amazed sometimes.
This is our solid bamboo and stone home. It is quietly and awesomely surrounded by nature.
Yet it is only 15 mins north of the restaurants (and entertainments) of Canggu; 15 mins to the beach; 30 mins to Seminyak; and 30 mins south of Ubud.
It sits on 1000sqm of it’s own land.
We have a very quiet temple, and the Ayung river as neighbours.
There are only the sounds of lush nature and a Javanese Kingfisher or two for company.
This is a unique property so please read the full description.
You’ll love this home best if you’re looking for some proper time out - just a stone’s throw away from ‘civilisation’.
Our jungle home is located at the end of a laneway in the village of Tangeb. There are a string of small private luxury resorts just down river. But you won’t see them either. When you get to the end of the laneway, you walk down the temple stairs, past a massive banyan tree - and through a private gateway, is the home itself.
Over two floors, there is one bedroom, two bathrooms, two living/dining areas, a workspace, a hammock, a sundeck, the kitchen, and another room (that we will store our things in when the house is yours). There is also a private staircase through the garden that runs down to our private platform by the river.
There are no other buildings/structures/anything but green and river in sight.
You may hear another human only if the small temple is being used for a rare ceremony. They happen on very special occasions and never last long. Though you are also welcome to join in.
The home was built with a low impact on the environment in mind - but we have also ensured it a solid standard of comfort.
4G WiFi internet is set up and stable. We have installed air-conditioning in the bedroom. There is a fully functioning kitchen; and hot running water in the upstairs bathroom.
It is good to keep in mind that only the bedroom is fully enclosed - in bamboo, and floor to ceiling glass windows. All other living spaces, bathrooms and the kitchen open up with at least one wall onto the trees and the river. Everything is well protected from the elements, and private. But it’s good to be aware - this is not your average concrete house :).
Our village of Tangeb is a very safe and sweet village with a few local food stalls and a supermarket/mini department store called ‘Fantasy’. There is an ATM there and some other local amenities like a hair washing and massage spot.
There is a laundry service at the top of our laneway called ‘Jaya Laundry’ (it’s more common to ‘outsource’ your laundry in Bali than to do it yourself). However, there are also washing lines strung up around the home for Yoga mats or swimwear (should you have been daring enough to jump into the river!).
Our dear housekeeper Ayu comes in six days a week 10AM to 12PM to ensure that the home is squeaky clean - but we can also let her know to take some time off - if you’d like that time to yourself.
Our assistant Ami will be available should you need any extra help.
Our reliable go-to driver Ketut can do airport runs for a bargain Rp250k; and help you out with any sightseeing/tour type stuff.
Or you can also rent a scooter from Bali Bike Rental, who offer a scooter drop-off service. We have a private, covered parking garage at the top of the stairs.
And a last hot tip! The GoJek and GoLife Apps. Transport, food, groceries, massage and most things you can think of - on demand/delivery.
Do let us know if you have any questions at all.
Hello! I've been on Airbnb since 2010 as a host and traveller. I have worked with NGOs, started up design studios, ran away with the circus, worked as a researcher, and generally follow the paths that spark interest in me. I was born in Malaysia with a mixed background and have grown up across Asia, Europe and Australia.
I adore the cities I choose as home and know them accordingly. I'm also just as enthusiastic about the places I visit - but I very much understand how to keep it at an agreeable level :). I am very aware of the spaces around me, I take care of mine and I respect yours.
Feel free to ask more.
