This is our first experience with airbnb. Have always used (Hidden by Airbnb) which was much easier to note all of the particulars with such a unique property on an island off the coast of Maine. Yes, there is only one ferry which us "Swans Islanders" think is a huge advantage. This is largely why the island is so completely unspoiled. If it was easy to get to we would have "fast food", traffic lights, night life and so many other things that we come to this island to get away from. The linen issue is just because there is no one there to do laundry. I am 3000 miles away and it would be way too expensive to have someone do laundry as there isn't even a launrdomat on the island! We have a washer and dryer but it is just easier to have guests bring their own. Most places on Swans Island have this requirement. I have thought of trying to figure out sheets and towels for folks that fly in from, for example Europe or other very far away places but have not figured that out. Most renters drive. Also, all the properties on the island (that rent) book Sat to Sat. And, finally, ours is one of the most inexpensive properties on Swans Island. A really special place! When we arrive from Colorado we have always considered the almost 2 days of air travel plus driving to be a part of the adventure. And then we arrive at the Swans Island Ferry Terminal to see the sign that says, "Welcome Home" !
