The rocking horse was the first inhabitant of this home when I purchased it about 10 years ago. He trots from room to room and is no longer in this initial spot by the living room fireside.Kitchen-dining (partial)

Der Wohnraum

This beautiful 1800's home with original hand-
hewn chestnut beams is on a quiet wooded country road that once ran through a 1930's vacation camp. No worries, the town cares for the road and plows in snowy weather. The home is only 15 minutes from nearby villages, though you might want to stay inside, resting by one of the three fireplaces (kitchen, living-room, den). Three bedrooms, a large full bath and 2 half baths allow the home to comfortably accommodate 5 people.

Zugang für Gäste

Guests have access to the entire house with all appliances and wi-fi, parking space and a lovely large property with field, woods and pond. Off limits: pond access for winter-skating or summer swimming. Office space on second floor.

Interaktion mit Gästen

Guests will be greeted and have access to a contact number with a real person attached but will be left alone to enjoy their visit!

I stayed at Jane's to attend a wedding at The Kaaterskill. This place is about a ten minute drive away from the venue. Fast wifi, standard kitchen appliances, french press for delicious coffee, good shower, extremely hospitable and friendly host, and, to top it off, breakfast was included. Overall, it was a great value. I had a very comfortable stay at Jane's, and I would definitely recommend. Thanks, Jane!

Jane was responsive, truly lovely and very accommodating! Stayed at this beautiful house in woods for the Thanksgiving weekend with 5 friends and we had a wonderful time. The kitchen was very well-equipped and the beds were comfortable. Also, it was very nice to walk around the house. We would definitely love to return.

What a lovely old house. My husband and I needed a quick getaway from hectic city life and Jane's house was the perfect place to feel the quiet of the country and slow down. We had planned to go to go to the art galleries in Hudson as it is only 20 minutes away, but we were so content just hanging around the house, exploring, walking down to Katterskill creek, and doing our own writing and drawing, that we never made it. We picked up some fresh veggies at nearby food stands, cooked in her well stocked kitchen, and had a long, delicious meal by the fireplace. Jane was very accommodating in all respects. The house is clean, comfortable, and roomy. The fall was a great time to be there, but want to experience it in other seasons as well. We will definitely return.

We were there for my son's wedding which was being held at another home along that street. I couldn't have been more disappointed with our rental. The home was cluttered and filthy. Floors, walls, ceiling... all dirty. Cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. Dead mouse at the front door. The house is old and had character. It could have been very cool but it was not well cared for and in general disrepair. Cleanliness was a huge issue. The bath and kitchen were especially unkept, in poor repair, and generally grimy. The refrigerator was very full and dirty. I would have been embarrassed to have anyone use that kitchen in the condition it was in. Thought there were two full baths. No! One full bath in poor repair upstairs, one half bath on the main level, and another roughed in bath in the basement level that no one would ever want to use. Everything was dark and dirty throughout. Felt like we were in a cave. Other homes on the street were very nice and any one of them would have been more than acceptable to us. I feel that the home was totally misrepresented and that I threw my money away on a place that was impossible to enjoy. I was embarrassed to have my son and daughter-in-law stay with us. Also, we had a hot spell while there this September. There was no AC. The windows were tiny. The bedrooms were ovens. There was no way to get ventilation. A few ancient fans covered in dust and grime did absolutely nothing to make the place habitable. A pathetic ceiling fan in the upstairs hall desperately pushed a bit of hot air around. There was no way to get comfortable and to cool down. I needed to be able to sleep and dress for my son's weeding and rehearsal dinner. I ended up spending an extra $500.00 for two nights at a hotel just so we could sleep, bathe and dress. While the rest of the families were visiting with each other at the various homes being rented along the road (all updated, air conditioned, and clean), I was driving miles away looking for a hotel where we could sleep. Jane was defensive about the poor ventilation and the heat. She told me the fans would be more than adequate when I expressed my concern. I believe the fact that I ended up renting a hotel room for two evenings because of the unbearable conditions says it all as to my level of satisfaction. I deserve a full refund.

This home that Mike Metallo so flagrantly disrepects is my castle: I care for this home; I love its rustic nature. This country house was built in the 1800's and retains many of its original characteristics: old wide board pine floors, chestnut ceiling beams, small windows of the period. Maple trees have grown up around the house, providing shade; with the smaller windows, wood floors and beams, the house has a darker quality than modern homes. This is a country home and yes, spiders also make their home here in various corners. I brush and vacuum those corners and the ceiling to clear those webs as is necessary. I wash all the floors throughout the house, vacuum and dust and put things in order to keep this home clean and beautiful. I hire someone to help me before guests' arrival. As to Mike's criticism of the bathroom and kitchen: The full bath upstairs received major repairs a year or so ago with new wall tiling in the shower-bath. The kitchen has beautiful dark-wood cabinets that are well-ordered and well-stocked. The stove is old and functions well. I always stock the refrigerator with breakfast foods and drinks for guests, as I did for Mike's family. The ceiling light-fan in the upstairs corridor is a new addition to this older home and works well. Holmes intake-exhaust window fans keep the upstairs bedrooms comfortable and even cool for sleeping in hot weather. As far as communication with guests, I always answer any questions or concerns with honesty and clarity prior to and during the guests' stay. I had informed Mike that there was no A.C. but I was not defensive about the type of ventilation I have here. I also let Mike know that there was only one full bath upstairs in the house. Other Airbnb houses on this street to which Mike compared mine have been totally rebuilt and fashioned by modern designers/ architects and landscapers. I do not have that kind of money to redo 'this olde house.' Nor would I want to total my home. I love my country-home and I like to share its uniquely original self with guests. I hope you come to enjoy the quietude of this country place and the natural serenity of living here in the country.

This house was perfect for our family getaway. It's full of rustic charm and character, without compromising comfort and roominess - there was plenty of room inside the house for our entire party, including two curious babies. Well-equipped kitchen, with room for two or three amateur chefs to operate, and very comfortable beds. Only regret is that we didn't have time to take advantage of the fireplaces or the sunroom - all pleasant bonuses. We will definitely come back!

Hello. I have a home in the Catskill countryside and I hope you will visit. I like it here because it is quiet surrounded by fields and woods and good for the imagination and for writing. My favorite place to visit is Italy and I have good friends there as well as here. I like gardening, writing poetry, playing the harpsichord (to myself), listening to Baroque music, cooking and eating Italian, middle-eastern fare and actually, all food! I very much like meeting new people and listening to their stories. I work for peace, dignity and human rights for all.
