This beautiful, fully restored stone cottage is elegantly appointed for a relaxing and enchanting getaway. Nestled by the canning river with direct access to the river bank; this rural property offers guests a unique country experience just 40 minutes from the city and 5 minutes to rail and shopping services.
Poplar Cottage was completed in 1925 by members of the Buckingham family. It is actually the second reincarnation of the building on this site as the first was smaller and entirely timber dating back to 1886.
"Thomas" is the master bedroom in the house providing the ultimate in relaxation with a corner spa bath overlooking the paddocks and Canning River. The room also boasts an ornamental fireplace and door opening and overlooking the paddocks. High ceilings dominate the room while ornate furnishings and plush linen make it a space to enjoy.
Betsy is the minor bedroom with its own ensuite showcasing a full length, deep sided claw foot bath. Betsy is elegantly furnished to create a truly relaxing sanctuary.

Guests have access to the living dining and kitchen areas in the house. All common areas are shared between guests. The kitchen and dining areas are generous and have multiple dining area options, from a cosy breakfast nook, bar stools at the expansive island bench to the elegant glass dining table.
The kitchen is fully equipped with European appliances and all the glassware, cutlery and crockery to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The back deck is furnished with a large teak outdoor dining setting and hammock chairs for those lazy days of relaxation.
Guests also have access to the banks of the Canning River, a short stroll across the expansive lawns.
Interaktion mit Gästen
The hosts live on site in the adjoining residence. We respect your privacy but are happy to interact with guests if you so wish. Hosts will pop in to the common areas at least twice a day to ensure all aspects of your stay are as enjoyable as possible.

The cottage is heritage property and while luxuriously appointed and renovated to the highest standard, older houses do posses some quirks. Please make time to read the information package upon arrival, particularly in relation to the care of the bio-septic systems. We hope that you love the cottage as much as we do and care for it in a respectful manner.
- We politely request that loud music or entertaining is concluded by 11pm as a family resides on the property.
