Cozy house. House near from the subway Bad neighborhood at night
The apartment interior itself was as listed. They did work with us on late arrival time. However, we did not stay. The door was very hard to unlock and lock from the outside. Door needs replaced. Area around apartment was rundown and unclean. Didn’t see many restaurants or stores…

This was a very unfortunate experience. As I responded to Rebma in our private messages, had there been any extenuating circumstances, we would have had no problem issuing a partial refund, but given that there were none, and the claims listed are not only unfounded, but, more importantly, carry incredibly problematic racist undertones, we chose not to do so. After my partner left the guests, we received a message saying something to the affect of 'My mother didn't know we would be staying in this kind of neighborhood," which is a known micro-agression used to negatively judge areas that are predominantly black. To address the false claims made in the review: 1) There is absolutely nothing wrong with the door. You turn the key to the left (no tricks) and the door opens. It is self-locking. Certainly, if there was any issue with the door, other guests would have noted it in their reviews. 2) There is a portable police station two blocks down the road near a major intersection (Flatbush Ave.). This means that there is a police car parked at Newkirk and Flatbush 24-7. Outside of that I don't see a lot of police in my neighborhood. 3) We live in a typical Brooklyn neighborhood that is not gentrified, as I made clear in my detailed description. There are a number of restaurants and stores in walking distance (many of which I mention in my description), but since the guests did not stay, I'm not sure how they would have been able to make this assessment. I encourage any guests considering staying at our listing to read the rest of our reviews, which more more accurately reflect our listing!
