I am the lucky proprietress of Galleywinter Farm, a working horse farm and healing sanctuary on 21 acres in Albemarle and Nelson County, Virginia. I’ve lived here for 26 years and been involved in every aspect of developing this place – beginning with bare land, fencing horse pastures with an infant alongside, to design and construction of the 4 bedroom farmhouse, building a 4 stall bank-barn, riding arena, spacious organic garden, and paths through the woods. Most recently I have added a Health and Fitness Studio where we offer yoga, sound bath healing, massage, and therapeutic retreats.
My passions are Women’s Health and Healing; Horses & Horsemanship: Fiber Arts and Education. I provide Health Counseling and Horsemanship Lessons at my farm throughout the year. I am so excited to be offering Restorative Stays and Retreats at Galleywinter Farm, inviting visitors to experience the privacy, peace, quiet, and stillness of this sanctuary in the lap of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have rooms in the main house available for overnight or longer stays. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms with an adjacent full bath. On the main floor I offer breakfasts for an additional $10 – local free-range eggs from my neighbors’ flocks, my secret recipe gluten-free pancakes with berries, nuts and greek yogurt (bourbon maple syrup optional). Also Breakfast IN BED, a service I personally adore.
Cowgirl Accommodations in the Barn – A bed built of White Birch and Black locust tucked into the upstairs floor of the barn. Horse stalls underneath. Chamber pot provided.
Your restorative stay can focus on doing as little as possible taking in fresh air, starry night skies and plenty of naps and sleep. Come inside to super comfortable beds, writing nooks in each room, salt bath soaks, and access to lots of great health and horsemanship books in my upstairs library. Ground floor rooms in the walkout basement are super-quiet and help the body synch with earth’s vibrational frequency. You could also enjoy exploring nature on the farm, sitting on the front porch watching the horses and the weather shifting along the Blue Ridge, sitting on the studio deck gazing into the woods.
