New listing as of July 2017. Our home is hand crafted using traditional Japanese techniques, and offers many places to relax and enjoy the views inside and out. We hope our guests enjoy the serenity and beauty of our home and land as much as we do. There are many varieties of trees on the grounds, visited by countless birds. A 15 minute drive from the Seattle ferry, we think it is the perfect escape from city hustle, or the ideal launch pad for Bainbridge Island and Kitsap county exploration.

Der Wohnraum

The setting adds a feeling of calm and serenity to your stay. The acreage around the property gives almost complete privacy. This kind of privacy is hard to find, even on Bainbridge Island.

This house is ideal to hold a tea ceremony or a small meditation or yoga retreat. Please check with us about special arrangements if you would like to use the space in this way.

Weitere wichtige Infos

You can sleep two additional guests in the straw mat tea room by using Japanese sleeping mats provided (shikifuton). It is wonderful to go to sleep and wake up in this room. Please be aware that these sleeping mats are quite thin and not at all like western style futons - they may not be comfortable for people who are not used to sleeping on them.

To say we loved our stay in this home would be an understatement. The moment I walked into the house, the scent of Japanese Cypress brought back memories of visiting my grandparents’ home as a child. The house is built by a master builder from Kyoto and the craftsmanship is incredible. It is hard to find a true Japanese house built like this even in Japan today. The house is immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly peaceful. We cherished the tranquil mornings sitting in the living room and watching the snow with a cup of coffee. We can’t wait to come back for more. If you are looking for a special retreat and an authentic Japanese home experience, it doesn’t get better than this!

If you’re looking for a place to stay on Bainbridge Island look no further. The house is both beautifully built and maintained. At this price it’s a great value. You are kind of isolated, as the review states it’s on 11 acres, but it’s the perfect place for solitude and relaxation. It’s probably a 10 minute drive from the house to the main stretch in Winslow.

Staying here is like staying in a delicately crafted piece of art. As soon as we walked through the front door, we were in the right mindset for a quiet, comfortable weekend! Loved it.

A beautiful home - pictures do not do it justice. This is the ideal spot for a weekend away.

We loved being nestled in a secluded 11 acre lot with lots of natural beauty and staying in a house that had much detail to showcase that beauty. We discovered how mother nature affects the island. We arrived late on a stormy night - the power was down, and eventually, water stopped running (water pump works on electricity). Our wonderful hostess Kelly came to our rescue the following morning with water, ice/ice chest and Starbucks coffee. Shortly after her departure, the power came back on. With morning light, we discovered that there were many sparkling clean windows that brought the outside in. The interior was minimalist - woodwork was amazing. It's the ideal retreat from city life.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and now live on a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest. I haven't left my love of the Giants behind and follow them when I can. I love to travel! My style of travel tends to be a little more of an "off the beaten path" type. I love a night or two in a luxury hotel on occasion and for work often that is the experience. However, I most enjoy staying someplace cozy where I can make my own meals with local spices and wares and enjoy a cup of coffee in my PJ's in the am's. I love all types of music and history and really enjoy exploring the cultural side of areas I travel. One of my favorite family adventures took us through Northern Spain, Southern France, Italy and the Greek Islands. We traveled by car, train, boat and plane and stayed in some wonderfully diverse places along the way. I look forward to continued travel and adventure and making more wonderful memories.
