Beautiful B&B on a lovely lot; the hosts are very friendly and also let us have our space. Great if you're traveling with pets. The room was comfortable, had good AC, and the fixtures were clean and modern. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back!

Nutzerprofil von Wallace And Nancy

After growing up 1,300 miles away from each other (Nancy is from Port Clinton, Ohio and Wallace was raised in Central Texas), we met in a Christian community at Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) in Houston, Texas during the mid-70’s. We married there in 1979, graduated from the University of Houston, and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where Wallace worked as a producer for the Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation. Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International, was a guest on one of ERTVF’s shows, and in 1982 he invited us to visit Habitat’s international headquarters. This prompted another move to Americus, Georgia, where we worked with Habitat for Humanity International for five exciting years and met many amazing homeowners, volunteers and staff.

In 1987, we and our two small children, Hannah and Michael, moved to Chattanooga where Wallace has worked in the corporate video production industry for the past 30 years. Once our children were in elementary school, Nancy began her career as a commercial real estate paralegal and has worked both in Chattanooga and Atlanta. In 1993, we stumbled across an ad for an urban mini-farm and after climbing up into the hayloft during our first visit, we knew it was the place for us. Our children still affectionately refer to home as “The Farm” even though Hannah moved to Winnipeg, MB after graduating from the University of Richmond and marrying a wonderful Canadian (Phil), and Michael lives in northern California after graduating from UC-Berkeley.

During our empty-nest phase these past 12 years, we have considered many different options domestically and overseas regarding our future and retirement. After much prayer, research, discussion and ongoing encouragement from family and friends, we kept coming back to the idea of constructing a bed-and-breakfast on our home place. We love meeting people and learning about their journeys along with cooking together for others, organic gardening, and pursuing artistic projects that have been put on the back burner for years. Although the planning process has been long and arduous, we are extremely excited about living our Golden Years as innkeepers of St Francis Cottage.

The name for our B&B came to us pretty quickly and didn’t change throughout the planning process. Nancy was taught by Franciscans at the Catholic School she attended as a child, and as the patron saint of animals, merchants and ecology, we believe St Francis Cottage is the perfect name for our bed-and-breakfast. We are so impressed with Pope Francis for his humility, servanthood and concern for the disenfranchised and impoverished. ALL are welcome at our table, and we look forward to meeting you soon!

Conveniently located just a mile from I-75-Hamilton Place Mall Shopping Complex and only three miles from the intersection of I-24 and I-75, St Francis Cottage is a special getaway on 2.3 wooded acres near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Whether you’re traveling to or from Florida; in Chattanooga for business, an event or convention; visiting family and friends; or on vacation, our doors are open to you. If looking for a true bed-and-breakfast experience with the friendliness of owner-innkeepers that are committed to service, then St Francis Cottage is the place for you.

Settle into an exquisitely-appointed, comfortable room, with a private bath, then stroll the gardens and enjoy an afternoon dessert with coffee, tea or a Coke. An optional, complimentary Happy Hour begins at 4:30, and feel free to review our restaurant guide to help you select one of the many fine restaurants in the area for dinner.

Wake up to the smell of organic coffee brewing and a complimentary full breakfast of healthy, sustainable, Southern-comfort food while enjoying the view of the trees, gardens and birds as they gather at the birdfeeders on the property. Choose to savor your breakfast in the dining area or the garden, on the deck, or in the privacy of your room.

Our gathering place is a spacious great room that allows travelers to socialize and relax around the fireplace. You also have access to a comfortable library and a 24-hour beverage bar. During warmer months, relax with a book in one of the sitting areas in our perennial gardens that extend from the large rear deck surrounded by mature hardwood, pine and cedar trees.

St Francis Cottage is the perfect picturesque setting for a small wedding or a family, business or social event. St Michael’s Place, a 2-bedroom, 2-bath home on the adjacent two acres, will be available later in 2017 as a short-term vacation rental to families or individuals who prefer a private residence setting. Whatever your travel needs, we aim to serve you and yours at St Francis Cottage.

Our B&B is fully licensed and zoned for this endeavor, and you are protected with a full building fire sprinkler system; CO and monitored smoke and fire alarms; and the latest in internal alarms.
