There are so many nearby restaurants and cafes to choose from. If you want groceries, there are Chinese markets within a block and extending down Stockton St. The famous Molinari Delicatessen is a 3 minute walk away. There are several neighborhood markets 4-7 minutes away. There is a Wallgreens Pharmacy 2 blocks away. There is a Trader Joe's and Safeway Supermarket within a 12 minute walk.

Amid an abundance of restaurants, cafés, bars and markets, you'll be able to have a comfortable home! This is the THIRD floor of a building constructed shortly after the San Francisco earthquake and fires of 1906.

This bedroom has a has a queen bed, two bedside tables, and a small table with chairs that can be used a a private dining nook or a work space.

Let me know if you would like to rent a private living room or another bedroom. Otherwise, there are two other rooms with queen beds that may be rented to other guests.

The homeowner (me, Sara) will be in another bedroom. From time to time, I may have a personal guest (friend or family) sharing my room.

At the end of the hall is a sun-filled kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a gas range and oven, fridge, microwave, toaster and various kitchen tools to make home-cooked meals. (Whether you check out the abundance of produce markets around the corner in Chinatown, gather cheeses and meats from Molinari Delicatessen on Columbus, grab some organic produce on Grant Ave a few blocks away, or choose to walk to Trader Joe's or Safeway - you are surrounded by delicious ingredients!)

The dining table has seating for 6. The bright dining area is a wonderful place to enjoy some coffee and breakfast before heading out for the day. Or feel free to just use the dining table as a desk/work space, and take advantage of the litany of restaurants, cafes and bars in all directions!!

As mentioned above, this building is from the early 1900's and has some unique features that have been added over the last 100 years. Walk through the kitchen to a small room with windows to the ceiling. This converted porch was probably once used for drying clothes and now has a bathroom sink.

Through another door is the bathroom with a toilet, small sink, and shower/bath. This may not be your usual bathroom experience, but you are visiting San Francisco after all and will get a glimpse of the historic nature of SF homes.

The bathroom includes a make-up mirror, blow dryer with a diffuser, cotton balls, q-tips, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ear plugs and a few feminine products in case of emergency.

There isn't a clothes washer and dryer, but there's a laundromat a half block away.

Zugang für Gäste

You have access to your private room and the shared kitchen and shared bathroom.

Interaktion mit Gästen

I enjoy hearing about your exploring adventures, what you do for work or what you did at the conference, etc. I love giving recommendations and discussing options for what you could do. However, I also am happy to give you space and privacy. In which case, I'll simply ask if there's anything you need and how you're doing. I do my best to gauge my guest's desired level of interaction but I also welcome direct communication. As in, feel free to tell me you would like more privacy/space or more interaction.

Weitere wichtige Infos

There is street parking in the neighborhood. Most of it has a 2 hour limit between 8am Monday - 9pm Saturday. So, you can park in a spot from 7pm in the evening to 10am in the morning before you have to move every 2 hours. Since the time limit doesn't apply on Sunday, you can leave it from 7pm Saturday night to 10am Monday morning. Sometimes I can find a parking spot within a couple of blocks and other times I find a street parking space several blocks away, but I eventually find a spot.

There are also parking meters in the streets immediately around the house. They are enforced Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm. So you can park for free from 6pm to 9am and all day on Sunday. After that, it's $2 per hour which you can pay from your smartphone with an app.

If you park on the street, please read all street signs regarding street cleaning and such in order to avoid your car being towed.

There is a parking lot right in front of the house. They charge $15 for 12 hours, so that's $30 per day. So you can park there during the day and park on the street at night if you want to save $15.

You can also park in a number of nearby parking garages. The North Beach Garage on Vallejo charges about $3 per hour. They charge $30 for 9-24 hours. However if you enter before 10am and exit before 7pm, it's only $16. (They call this their Early Bird Special.) So you could switch off between the garage during the day and street at night and save $14 if you wanted to. This garage is open 24 hours.

The Vallejo Street Garage is $27 daily maximum and $16 Early Bird Special. This garage closes at 10pm Sunday-Thursday and 2am Friday and Saturday.

The Powell Street Parking garage is usually $12 for a weekday from morning to about 6pm. The price goes up in evenings and weekends, however as stated earlier you can park for free in the evenings on the street. They close between 10pm and 2am depending on the day. So you could switch off between the garage during the day and street at night and save money if you wanted to.

Another parking option is to leave the car in the Mission neighborhood, some of which doesn't have the 2 hour limit. It just has weekly street cleaning to avoid. The Mission is a super hip area to explore. You could drive there in the morning, park the car, wander Valencia St - be sure to check out their foodie restaurants, specialty cafes and cool shops like Paxton's Gate and Dijital Fix - then take the bus back to North Beach.

Do your best to prevent a robber from breaking into your car. Do not leave any bags or belongings or even jackets in the car, particularly not in sight, any of which may be tempting for a thief. Even if it's not valuable, they may break your window in order to get at something. If you're going to park and put things in the trunk, put them in the trunk in advance before you park so people don't see you loading your trunk with goodies then walking away. I think SF is a pretty safe city, but I also think it's important to set yourself up for success as much as possible. =)

Home Care
This is a shoe-free home with brand new carpet. Please take your shoes off in the stairwell before the apartment entrance. If you spill something or mark the carpet, please let me know so I can clean it immediately. If a glass or something is broken, please let me know so that all pieces can be safely removed.

If something is not working properly, please let me know so it can be repaired or replaced.

Common Spaces should be kept clean and tidy, such as the bathroom sink and the kitchen counter. Dishes and cooking utensils should be cleaned promptly after use. Please use the metal mesh in the shower drain to capture hair and keep it from going down the drain. Please empty it after showering/bathing.

Noise and Behavior
Between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am, please avoid raucous noises and keep music, TV, voices, and any other sounds to a minimum (not louder than necessary for convenient hearing). Noise travels between buildings, even with windows closed. The homes are very close together and sound bounces between walls. It’s important that people in the home and the neighborhood can enjoy their rest and relaxation.

Bike Parking
Please speak with the Owner Occupant before parking bicycles in common areas.

Trash is generally collected by the city every Wednesday morning around dawn.
Refuse is to be placed inside designated containers (recycling, trash, and compost). Please fold down boxes and bags.

Außerdem musst du Folgendes beachten:
Treppensteigen ist erforderlich - There are 2 flights of stairs.
Keine Parkplätze auf dem Grundstück
Einige Räume werden gemeinsam genutzt - The kitchen and bathroom are shared.

I love people... truly I adore meeting people, hearing about their lives, and making a difference for others. Taking care of people is deeply fulfilling to me. It is an honor to have the opportunity to be hospitable - whether that is three generations of a family or a group of friends or a team of colleagues.

I live in San Francisco and co-own a 3 unit apartment building with another woman, Tiya-B. My home is the 3rd floor unit and her place is the 2nd floor unit. In addition, I sometimes help another dear friend, Alan, who shares his home with guests on occasion (the Mission Treehouse).

I have lived in San Francisco since the winter of 2012 and I still feel like there's so much to see! I'm constantly exploring the city in which I live. San Francisco is a magical, ever-evolving and vibrant place. I am always learning about something new and discovering special qualities. There is so much happening in San Francisco, one can be a "tourist" in this city and never get bored. There isn't enough time in the day to attend all the events and try all the restaurants, etc. I'm delighted to share with you what I know about and really appreciate when people tell me about their discoveries.
