Arty home on two floors, right in the heart of historic town Linlithgow - across from the scenic Loch and Palace. Less than 10 mins. walk to the station from where Edinburgh is just a 20 min and Glasgow a 30 min train journey away. Ideally guests are used to looking after cats as my elderly house cat lives here too.
This warm and welcoming space is a proper lived in home with a lot of character. The house is over 140 years old, so expect quirky bits rather than sleek perfection. You'll find original artwork on the walls and personal things (books, CDs etc.) across the space. The main living space is on the second floor of the building - kitchen, living room, single bedroom, room with double sofabed, bathroom. Via internal stairs you access the converted attic space with the main bedroom from which you can also access the balcony.
Zugang für Gäste
One room upstairs will be locked. Guests can use the rest of the flat, including the balcony.
Interaktion mit Gästen
The whole flat is usually available for rent when I'm away. When I'm around I will be renting out a single room occasionally (listing and pics to follow once the room has been re-decorated.
Weitere wichtige Infos
Since this is a lived in home rather than purpose built holiday rental it's important that guests respect the space and treat things with care (guests with only positive reviews). My elderly house cat Cleo also lives there so I prefer guests who like cats. Cleo is very shy so she won't bother you and you probably won't see much of her, as long as she gets food and water (and the occasional treat ;))
- Please note that guests need to give Cleo food and fresh water
- Please text approximate arrival time in advance
- Open fireplace not currently in use
Originally from Germany, I've been living in Linlithgow, Scotland, for over 20 years - and love it here! I enjoy the beauty of nature, arty things and travel a fair bit. To give visitors from all over the world a chance to be creatively inspired by this country's nature and heritage I've co-founded Wild at Art Ltd to organise art holidays in Scotland . My other business Fire & Rain offers bereavement breaks for widowed people.
I signed up to Airbnb some time ago but only started being active here last year to promote another place I love: my family's Chalet Bärbel (named after my mum) in the Swiss Alps. And I've just started renting out a newly renovated room in my own house, which is the ideal location for exploring central Scotland.
