My wife and I were fortunate enough to close out our summer with a short 4-day vacation to Shannon's cottage just prior to Labor Day. The place is absolutely as advertised, perfect for our family, and God-willing we will be returning someday.
The cottage itself is simply amazing. The enormous master bedroom has bay windows on three sides that allow guests to clearly view both sunrise and sunset. Opening the windows allows bay breezes in that cool the room and make for deep and peaceful sleep. The second bedroom, balcony, and living room are all tastefully and comfortably furnished and decorated. The interior is first rate in every respect. And the hot tub facing the water behind the house is an excellent touch. We used it several times during our stay,
Some of the highlights of our visit outside of the unit where swimming and kayaking in the lake, which is clean and warm and directly accessible from the cottage pier. The river is saline (this is the tidelands) and feeds directly into the bay and ultimately the ocean, but we found it remarkably great for swimming. We also found it to be full of fish and crab, yet totally free of jelly fish or other problematic critters in late august. Beyond the swimming and boating, we enjoyed spending a significant amount of time in York, where we were able to take a sunset cruise and see a movie on a rainy day.
As a host, Shannon was a professional host, helpful and responsive but respectful of our vacation and privacy.
In conclusion, we had a wonderful experience staying at Shannon's cottage, and would highly recommend it to all who enjoy the water and appreciate the beauty of the tidelands, especially couples and young families.
