Hi my name is Rosalba but everybody calls me Ro.
I'm Italian and have a beautiful apartment in South Italy in the magic island of Sicily.
I travel a lot because of my job. I'm an Italian Language Coach for Opera Singers and work freelance for internationals Opera Theatres.
I've lived abroad for many years, in Germany, France, UK, and Spain. I've moved back to my roots and Sicily has become my base again. In my spare time I make sure now to go back to my island and absorb all the beautiful natural gifts Sicily offers. It is a blessing to me to be able to spend precious time with my family and friends in this magic spot of the Earth.
During the summer, in the morning I love to go to the beach to swim and lay under the sun and take in as much vitamin-D as possible :-) Sometimes with my friends we organize boat excursions and have great fun spending the day driving along the Golfo and stop in secret spots to swim.
Then in the evening, around 19.30pm I join the gang for the "Aperitivo ritual" at our Bar Onda del Mare, over the village's old harbour. From this magnificient and humble terrace, sipping our drinks, chatting over this and that, we watch the sun setting over the stunning Golfo di Castellamare.
This is my favorite time of the day.
I also enjoy the quiet pace of our village during the winter when we spend more time indoors. A lot of cooking and eating takes place preceded, of course, by a visit to our organic vegetable supplier.
One of the thing I do during the autumn/winter time is to take the car and drive along and discover corners and villages and routes. I usually then stop to buy local products of the season.
I love to drive under the special light of the early afternoon between 14.00 and 16.00. The light can be truly magical, and when it hits our landscape covered by the rich vineyards ...well what can I pure magic. If you are a photographer you'll find your mecca in Sicily. Every season has incredible different light intensities and colors which change from hour to hour.
Some of our guests who have come to spend their holidays at my place, happen to become part of the big family and friends' group and like to take part in the activities and events that we organise. I make sure they go back home having taken Sicily with its rich cultural history, gastronomic tradition, warm hearted friendships, fully in their hearts.
Because I'm a globetrotter it might happen that I won't be there during your visit, so you can enjoy the place all by yourself! And not to worry, you will receive the same treatment as if I was there. My mother will take care of you, and if you wish so I will connect you to my friends and organize that you have a memorable stay.
Looking forward to welcoming you in my home and island, a presto, Ro. x
