Der Wohnraum

In the beginning, the idea for The Robin's Nest was to simply build a shop. We needed a shop. But being in the design/build business, we wanted to make it a beautiful shop, built in the traditional post and beam fashion, with proportions and materials characteristic of the 1930's National Parks lodges.

So, we designed and built it, and then the evolution began. It was too beautiful to be just a shop. It would be a studio. But even a studio would be much improved with a bathroom. And so, we have continued to bring it further and further along the road toward being a comfortable, rustic, living place with fixtures and furnishings characteristic of the era.

In the City limits, on our acre of land, The Robin's Nest sits just uphill from its Airbnb sibling, Little House, gathering in the south light and the view, with a deck, a pond (frogs!) and an emerging native forest which we planted to invite the wingeds and four leggeds.

10' high walls hold a steeply vaulted ceiling. A sleeping loft, accessed by ship's ladder, has a bank of east facing windows for the morning light and a hand crafted futon bed. (Sleeping accommodations are downstairs as well.)

Beneath the loft is a small, full bath, with a 4' claw foot tub and shower. The windows at the kitchen sink look North, uphill, through young trees to a distant meadow. There's a fridge, microwave, toaster, electric tea kettle and wireless internet.

The bus stops just down the street, and it's a pleasant three mile bike ride or walk to U of O or downtown. A running track and forested City park, with miles of trails and a climb to the top of Spencer's Butte are close by.

It's a lovely place for a family or a couple or two. We look forward to you visit (and so do our Border Collies and white cat!),

It's a hand crafted place with wood floors, trim etc. with some family antiques. The surroundings are also beloved and cared for by us, and, so we'd just ask that you treat the place, in its entirety, with respect and consideration.

It's really WELL INSULATED, so be sure to keep the air circulating and free of moisture.
No smoking or open flame
Be sure to wipe up all water from the oak floors and the fir kitchen counter top.

Robyn and her husband were extremely welcoming to us and our two pups, but also allowed for our privacy. Great place, great people and location.

This was our second stay at Robyn's nest. And just like the first, the nest/cottage was a joy to be in and the host are very accommodating, polite and a joy to have a chat with. I highly recommend the stay.

We love what we do. We do what we love. And we are happily rooted in our place We've taken our acre in South Eugene, once a clear cut, cattle grazed piece, and planted it up with a diversity of native forest plant life, created ponds and invited new wingeds and four leggeds …
