My husband, Carey, and I have been married 33 years. We usually travel together - by train whenever possible. Since we are retired, we travel as much as we can.
Carey and I live across the San Francisco Bay on it's East side (the East Bay). Here we volunteer for some of the 20+ wineries of the East Bay Vintners Alliance. The East Bay is not good location for growing grapes, but we do make excellent wines from grapes acquired from other regions.
During the summer we spend much time at beautiful South Lake Tahoe. We love the mountains, but not so much the winters there. I read/listen to many, many books (mostly non-fiction). Carey has favorite authors, such as Bill Bryson and Alexander McCall Smith, whose books he reads. Mainly though, he reads magazines.
We own two cats, Whiz and Bogart, and take care of a third, Nakita. She's my son's cat. This son is a sailor, and cats are not allowed on his ships. I'm sure she could earn her keep...
In the past we have relied on a free listing website to find alternative housing accommodations, but not always with good results. We are happy to use and support Airbnb.
