A private room & marble bathroom w/clawfoot tub in a cute & quiet historic home near green line metro (with shuttle bus stop outside), less than 2 miles from the DC border and within easy driving access of downtown DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore.

Der Wohnraum

The room for rent is the grey room with black chandelier. You will have a private full bathroom with heated marble floors as well, plus a closet, private TV with Roku, desk, comfortable queen sized bed and dresser. You even have a cute little ensuite screened in porch! This is a house with a cat and a dog.

The house is just off of Rhode Island Avenue/Route 1. It's a 3 BR, 2.5 bath, adorable 1900 Queen Anne Victorian with a nice-sized backyard, patio furniture, grill, wraparound porch and porch swing, and sleeping porch off of the guest room.

We are a young, fun and friendly couple with a cute, solar powered Victorian in Hyattsville's quirky and artsy historic district, which is less than two miles from the D.C. border and within five miles of the University of Maryland College Park, Catholic University, Howard University, Gallaudet University, Walter Read Medical Center, Washington Hospital Center, Prince George's Shock Trauma Hospital and Trinity Washington University. Also about 20 minutes from NOAA, NASA, Discovery Communications, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington Navy (URL HIDDEN) one mile from the West Hyattsville metro on the Green Line, which is 1 stop outside of DC (15 minute ride to Gallery Place, 10 minute ride to U Street). A shuttle bus to it is just a block from our house, which operates on weekdays.

We are within just a few miles of major thoroughfares such as (phone number hidden) (to Annapolis), and 295 (to Baltimore). We are 30-40 minutes from BWI, 25-35 minutes to Reagan National Airport, and about an hour from Dulles International Airport. We are about 20 minutes from Union Station.

The trailhead to Magruder Park, which hooks up to hundreds of miles of trail systems in the region, is practically in our backyard.

The house is also walking distance to the new Arts District development - Busboys and Poets restaurant and events venue, Yes Organic Market, Tara Thai, Franklin's Brewpub, Chipotle, Elevation Burger, a frozen yogurt place, and a yoga studio ((website hidden)). We also back up to Magruder Park, with walking and bike trails connecting to DC. We are within a few miles of the Chocolate City Brewing Company, New Columbia Distillery and new Union Market. On Sundays, you can go a mile away to Arrow Bicycle and join a 32 mile group ride for free.

We are also smack dab in the middle of the burgeoning Gateway Arts District, with the Washington Glass School and Studio, Glut Food Co-op, & Joe's Movement Emporium (drop-in yoga!) just a mile away.

As you can tell, we love our home and the location is ideal. We will do the best we can to make sure you have a pleasant time in DC!

When I stepped in Kayleigh's home, I was surprised that reality is even better than the pictures shown on this site. The house is great, one can really feel at home. You'll have your own spacious room with a comfortable bed and a gorgeous porch. The private bath is as beautiful and clean as the whole house. I used public transportation to go the the Archives at College Park - it's quite easy to get there. Take the Bus 13 to Prince George's Plaza, then change to the R3. On Saturdays, you can take the 83 to College Park Metro and change to the C8. Kayleigh was very helpful and nice and she responded quickly to every question. Thank you for accomodating me!

Kayleigh was a fabulous host and made my stay more enjoyable than I could have ever imagined! From the initial welcome, by she and Red, to ensuring that everything I needed was in place. The home and accommodations are absolutely gorgeous, stylish and most importantly comfortable. The private bathroom is just a few steps away from your private bedroom. (with Internet TV, generous closet and drawer space) The private deck, decorations and style of the bathroom made you feel as if you were staying in updated accommodations. Unique touches included the Red Binder with activities, restaurants and other things of interest in the area; Kayleigh and her husband's laid back and welcoming nature, which even extends to the demeanor of Red, The Dog. The location is a hop, skip and a jump away from the bus stop to the West Hyattsville metro, a $7 Uber ride to Hyattsville Arts District, 20 min drive into DC (via Rhode Island Ave) and in a lovely quiet residential neighborhood.

Kayleigh and Jason are laid-back and helpful. They gave some great suggestions of things to do in the area. The space, if possible, was even nicer than the pictures. Hyattsville is a very pleasant neighborhood with many restaurants and shopping for necessities. It's convenient to buses and the metro for going to Washington DC and Baltimore.

I stayed at Kayleigh and Jay’s for three months to work at the National Archives in College Park. As I am writing this, I do not know if I possess the vocabulary to emphasize all the great things about this listing, and even more so, about the people you'd get to cohabit with if you choose to stay here. First, I'll start with the house: all the cool stuff you see in the photos are real. The room is incredibly cozy, the bed is perfect to get a really good night sleep, the shelves are full of interesting books, the desk is perfect to get a bit of work done and the porch is a brilliant place for Sunday breakfast and coffee or watching the Netflix with a glass of wine in the evening. DC’s summer is efficiently chased away by the room’s window AC. The bathroom which is three steps from the room is very big and very comfortable. The kitchen downstairs is very spacious and, depending on your ambitions, allows you to cook a small meal or thanksgiving dinner. The house is in a beautiful area of Hyattsville and is about 10 minutes’ walk from its center and local gathering spots while in the back of the house you will find an extensive park that you’ll love if you’re a jogger or like to take walks. The hosts, Kayleigh and Jay, are the most gracious, caring and interesting couple. They open their home to you while respecting your privacy. I was allowed to use every appliance and make myself completely comfortable. They became my family while I was half way around the world from home. I was graciously included into every event in the neighborhood and more. Although it was never needed, I always knew I could count on them if I were to find myself in trouble. They are also wealth of knowledge and you will be at a loss if you don’t listen to their advice whether about sightseeing in DC or about the brand of local beer you should try out. They have two most incredible pets – Red, the Dog and Murphy, the Cat. Murphy is almost invisible while Red is a loyal companion. I loved being around them and spending my time with them. These are pets that will creep underneath your skin and you will miss them after you’re gone. To conclude, this is the best place I could have stayed for my extended time in DC. I know that whenever I will be going back to the area, I will book with Kayleigh and Jay. They are simply perfect hosts while the room is simply a perfect room!

I have lived in Kayleigh's house for 4 weeks. She is the best host I have ever met. The couple, she and her husband jacob were very nice persons who help me to be familar with the room I lived and invited me to their parties having lots of fun. They have lovely pets including a dog named Red and a cat Mophy. It's a family with fantastic enthusiasm for their lives.I spent a wonderful period of time with them. They have also done me favors in offering me informations to have meals nearby, to travel around DC and their favorite place to ski. Kayleigh also helped to receive and print my key documents to get a driving license. In case of emergency, She even asked her neighbours to help me to print them. They are all warm-hearted people. I believe that best individuls have best neighbours. Kayleigh's house is convenient for cooking, sleeping and writing. The bed room has a big desk, a comfortable bed and a sunny balcony. The location is near college park and metro station. There is a beautiful woods and two big sports courts behind her house. Kayleigh is crazy about old fogey and the house was decorated in classic styles. I love both the house and two hosts living in it. Next time I prefer live in their house again!

I stayed with Kayleigh and Jay for 5 nights while waiting for a new apartment in D.C. to be move-in ready, and I had a great experience. First, the house is simply beautiful. You will be very comfortable in the large guestroom that comes with a cute little screened in porch (which is great for lounging or reading). The spotless private bathroom is right across the hall. I loved the huge claw foot tub and marble floors. It felt very spa-like! Kayleigh and Jay are very welcoming and kind. They give great local recommendations and will invite you to join them for gatherings with neighbors. Kayleigh also offered me dinner one night after I had worked late – I had already eaten but it was such a sweet gesture! The commute into D.C. wasn’t too bad, and there’s a bus right near their house that takes you directly to the West Hyattsville metro station. All in all, I had a lovely experience and would highly recommend it!
