Thanks for your comments and for staying. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves.
In fact, there was a misunderstanding. I prepared the fire pit for you and there was no charge or is there ever a charge levied for my guests. Many enjoy its ambiance during their stay, as reviews mention. It's free to use.
I do charge for the preparation, and use of the sauna which requires bathrobes, towels, hauling the wood, building the fire, cleaning the space, preparing and cleaning the cold plunge and hanging the hammock. As I communicated, this is about 90 minutes of work to prepare and clean. I charge only $40 in total for this service. If "nickel and dimey", then forgive me.
As you graciously mention, I was clear that I had guests from 3:00-5:00 for a wine tasting and could welcome you earlier of later. I also invited you to join us, but your schedules would not allow.
Your lovely wife, Rachel, arrived 20 minutes prior to my guests, in the midst of my preparations, much later than she communicated or than I expected. I had simply forgotten I'd promised a bottle of wine when you all arrived; when you did, I was in the midst of my tasting session with 6 guests. Again, this was clearly stated. You did not tell me you were intent on making cocktails except in the middle of my wine tasting. Had you done so, I would have been happy to leave out ice and cocktail glasses. I'm sorry I could not interrupt my other guests to service your needs.
Prior to booking, you wrote that my timing was inconvenient for you. And you grew from 3 to 5 guests. I sincerely suggested you find a place more aligned with your group and tight schedule. As I told you, the futon is great for kids, so best for families. I am so sorry that the situation played out just as I'd anticipated. I'm intent on my guests enjoying the beauty of my vineyard home, the relaxed atmosphere, and sharing my personal hospitality. I apologize for not delivering on that promise.
