It’s so unfortunate that a guest I thought ordering me around like a boss and tried to coach me English words as what to tell Airbnb to get them pay for her lack, would choose to misunderstand the very first few capitalized words under my listing which says verbatim “POSTED RATE IS PER PERSON (and not for the room)”. In addition, further in the description is a statement ‘ for group booking, Airbnb may charge for one person only, hence the rest of the group may settle on check-in date’. So when Ms Kristine was charged a total of Php (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) posted rate plus service fee) she knew it well, it covered for her booking only.
When Airbnb issued her a confirmation, a breakdown was made to illustrate how much of a cost each of them shared (4pax) from the amount collected from her. And it was Php163.01/person. This illustration, she took it to mean that—that’s all each of them should pay! Hello!!! where on earth can you find a bed and breakfast for Php 163.01 per person, in an airconditioned room, with hot/cold shower and complimentary soap? Well, she said in Los Banos!
Ms Kristine seemed to wear some blinders from the start she did her booking until she’s allowed or granted an option to rather move to a hotel. She did not see everything except the amount Php163.01, a breakdown she thought was very favorable for her.
