Across the road is a footpath that will lead you to the cycle way to Yarmouth & Freshwater which is along the route of the former railway line, this follows The Yar Estuary & river, which attracts walkers and bird watchers alike, and also provides a lovely walk on a summer evening.
Henry VIII built Yarmouth Castle as coastal defence and the Town Hall rebuilt in 1764 stands in the Square once used as a meat market until 1888. St.James Church (c1614) contains a fine white marble statue of Sir Robert Holmes, Governor of the Island in the late part of the 17th century.
